Event 37: Legendary Pokémon is an event match in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Beating this match will unlock Pichu.

In this event, a player must defeat four giant Wire Frames and a Jigglypuff on Battlefield. Each has two stocks. The only item that will appear is the Poké Ball. Every Poké Ball holds either a legendary Pokémon or a Wobbuffet. The only character on the other team who can use a Poké Ball is Jigglypuff, and it will do nothing else, while all the Wire Frames ever do is attack the player's character. However, Jigglypuff can still recover by using Sing after it uses all of its midair jumps. If the player grabs a Poké Ball earlier and Jigglypuff attempts to grab a Poké Ball, it occasionally use the first hit of its neutral attack instead of grabbing a Poké Ball. Jigglypuff will also attack the player by throwing a Poké Ball at the player.

Trivia

  • During the battle, the music for Poké Floats plays, which normally does not play on Battlefield.
  • Unusually, the Fighting Wire Frames in this Event Match can be both Star KO'd and Screen KO'd, which does not occur in any other mode where the player has to fight them.
  • There is a glitch that occurs in this event match. If Ganondorf uses his Dark Dive to hit the Fighting Wire Frames, it will do only one hit instead of doing multiple hits similar to Captain Falcon's Falcon Dive. This is shown here.
