Eagleland (disambiguation)

Eagleland (Japanese: イーグルランド Īgururando) is the main regional setting of the SNES video game Earthbound. It is the location of two stages in the Super Smash Bros. series: Onett and Fourside (both from Super Smash Bros. Melee). Eagleland is generally considered to be a reference to The United States of America, as it has a similar culture and appearance to America. Also, the word eagle is likely a reference to the bald eagle, the national symbol of America. Ness's hometown of Onett is in Eagleland, and can actually be seen by shifting the camera while paused. Fans have joked that Ness has a distinct Eagleland or Onett accent, due to the distortion of his voice when speaking.
