In this tier list I personally think Falcon should be higher than Fox due to being better overall in the more common Dream Land and having an better aerial game. Yoshi and Jigglypuff jumps over Mario and Donkey Kong respectively. Even though Link is the worst character on Dream Land, he is an underrated character in my opinion. If used in the rights hands, Link can be really good at keeping his opponents at bay with his projectiles and strong aerials. Samus also rose high from her last place and Luigi now resides at the bottom. | In this tier list I personally think Falcon should be higher than Fox due to being better overall in the more common Dream Land and having an better aerial game. Thanks to aMSa, I have Yoshi jump another three spots. While it was a tough call to whether have Samus, Pikachu, or Dr. Mario take the top of the middle tier (also generally the top of the usually not too viable characters), Axe's great performance at MLG Anaheim 2014 and EVO 2014 has prompt me to put Pikachu there. Jigglypuff, in my opinion, should also be top tier, making it now five top tier characters. I also think Captain Falcon is the weakest of the viable characters so I dropped him below Ice Climbers (not next to Peach). Pichu rose two because I think he is an underrated character while Zelda fell a lot. Debatable whether Fox or Falco should take the top since both of their top players, Mango and PPMD respectively, have both won some really big tournaments recently. I don't really have much to say for the Brawl tier list, since the eighth backroom tier list looks good enough. There are some minor changes but none of them are that really significant noting to the metagame. | I don't really have much to say for the Brawl tier list, since the eighth backroom tier list looks good enough. My personal tier lists if so.
How I rank my tier lists
As a general rule of thumb, I use letters showing how viable one tier is. These letter tiers do not necessarily mean things like "top tier" or "bottom tier" and the like.
Rank | Game |
---|---|
S | The best characters to use in competitive play, and there are no real qualms in using them. |
A | All-around viable characters. They're not as good as the ones at S tier but they usually have little to no flaws. |
B | These characters are not as viable since their flaws shows. Their still fairly good to use though. |
C | Characters that are a bit on the flawed side to use. They have situation uses, but don't expect to see these guys at tournaments that often. |
D | Barely viable characters, as they have at least a few niches that save them. Generally mediocre characters overall. |
E | These characters are just not that viable at all. If you want to use them, expect to have a hard time. |
F | Characters that are never viable. Commonly known as the joke characters. |

I still think Fox should have the top spot due to his ability to win bigger national tournaments.
