Goku Powers Up!
—Introduction tagline

Goku (悟空, Goku) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4, confirmed as the surprise final DLC character after Bayonetta on April 1st, 2018 in a Nintendo Direct released the same day. His voice actress from the Dragon Ball anime series, Masako Nozawa, reprises her role in Japanese; Sean Schemmel, his voice actor in the Funimation English dub of Dragon Ball, reprises his role in English. Internationally, Goku's dubbing voice actors from Dragon Ball Super reprise their roles: Mario Castañeda and Pablo Domínguez in NTSC and PAL Spanish, respectively; Patrick Borg in French; Stefan Bräuler in German; and Claudio Moneta in Italian.

Attributes[edit]

Goku is a character that focuses on speed and power. His down air has enough priority to allow him to deal with projectiles. He has a projectile in his Ki Blasts which he can use to zone his opponents or hinder their approach. He has KO moves in his forward smash, forward tilt, forward and back throws (when used near the ledge) and back air.

Goku has different recovery options with Instant Transmission, which covers decent vertical distance while making him intangible for a second, he can use Kamehameha for horizontal recovery when fully charged and can use the startup of his Ki Charge to slow his falling speed.

Goku has a good grab game, as his back and forward throw can be used as KO moves when used near the ledge. His Ki Charge, when activated increases the speed and power of his attacks while also becoming more susceptible to KOs. However, Goku suffers from subpar range in most of his attacks which leaves him vulnerable to characters with disjointed hitboxes. Additionally, his projectiles are fairly weak and generally cannot effectively space out opponents. Due to Goku's height, above average weight and being a high faller, he is very susceptible to combos.

Additionally, Goku has already been determined to be a greater character than any other in the game, boasting greater offensive and defensive ability than any other character in the game, because he is very cool and my uncle promised he would be the very best in the game.

Trophies[edit]

Goku
Goku, a warrior with a love for the art of fighting, was once a kid with a monkey's tail. Over his years, he's since married, had some kids, and learned that he was an alien! Having fought many a villain both near and close to his home planet, Goku is certainly one of the greatest heroes any dimension has ever seen.
Dragon Ball (11/1984)
Goku (Alt.)
Goku's signature attack, the Kamehameha, is a charging of Goku's Ki energy that he later unleashes as a beam of energy. The longer you power up the attack, the more powerful it will be, and the more hits it will deliver! But if you choose to unleash the attack quickly, it won't be as effective.
Dragon Ball (11/1984)
Spirit Bomb
In times of need, the people of Earth can lend Goku their energy for him to collect into a giant ball of pureness and hope that dispels any evil. In Smash Bros., Goku unleashes this devastating attack onto any opponent he wishes to defeat, launching anyone caught up in the attack at the very end.
