Double Down 2022 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate supermajor and Super Smash Bros. Melee major which took place on July 8th-10th, 2022 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and featured tournaments for both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was the sequel to Royal Flush and was previously set to be the first Platinum tier stop on the 2020 Smash World Tour for both games on June 5th-7th, 2020 prior to its postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic; the tournament was instead a Platinum stop on the Smash World Tour 2022 for both games. It was later planned for March 25th-27th, 2022 before being postponed again due to problems that arose due to the Omicron variant.[1] Various side events, a Rock Paper Scissors tournament, a Mario Party Superstars minigames bracket, Rivals of Aether brackets, and a Super Mario 64 16 Star speedrun contest also took place. An Ultimate Squad Strike bracket was planned before the tournament's first postponement.
