Overview[edit]
Dedede swings his hammer on both sides. The move has below average frame data, with a frame 14 startup and the property of being interruptable on frame 53. In exchange, it has decently high power and pretty good range; in fact, the move can actully hit opponents whose hurtboxes have shifted into the Z-axis for a brief moment.
The main use of this move is in ledgetrapping, as the combination of Gordo and down smash makes it so that Dedede can cover nearly every ledge option.
Overall, in a vaccum, Dedede's down smash is not very good, but in the context of his entire kit, he abuses the move in a way that no other fighter can.
