Clear is a transformation in the Super Smash Bros. series that debuted in Super Smash Bros. Melee and has appeared in every subsequent game.
Clear fighters are invisible. Except in Super Smash Bros. Melee, if a clear fighter has a name, that name is not displayed.
Causes[edit]

- Clear Smash
- Boo item in Smash Tour
- Nightmare turns everyone invisible when the screen goes dark
- One of Skull Kid's effects

- One of Hocus Pocus's effects
Origin[edit]
The Cloaking Device item appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This item causes the user to become invisible, similar to the Clear transformation; however, unlike the clear transformation, a cloaked fighter is also immune to damage and their recoil damage is negated, but they still take any hitstun or knockback inflicted on them. The Cloaking Device comes from the Perfect Dark universe.
Trivia[edit]
- At the start of Melee's Event 23: Slippy's Invention, it is stated that Slippy Toad invented the Cloaking Device used in that match.
- The distortion effects that indicate a clear fighter's location bend around Mr. Game & Watch's unflattened 3D model, making it the only way of seeing him in an unflattened state in every game the status appears in.
