The Bushido Impact logo

Bushido Impact was a French association hosting video games tournaments around Paris, active from 2006 to 2011. Their events are named the same way, and are called Nibaï when lasting 2 days.

They're known in the French Smash community for being the most attended Brawl tournament events in France up to now. After the Nibaï Impact 2 event, Achoral was hosting the Brawl events.

They announced a Melee tournament as well during the 7th Event, but due to the lack of players who were attending, it was cancelled. However, they restarted Melee since the Nibaï 2 event, helped by Slhoka.

Since 2011, Bushido ceased any activity without giving any notice.

  • It was the first French Brawl tournament to feature a low tier event. The allowed characters were from the E, F and G ranks of the tier list 2.0.
  • Due to the amount of players who asked for it, stages rules were modified : Yoshi's Island (SSBB) was moved from Neutrals to Counterpicks, and Brinstar, Luigi's Mansion, Norfair, Rainbow Cruise and Jungle Japes were added to the list of counterpicks. The players asked for the time limit to be set to 8 minutes instead of 6 and for the doubles to be played in double elimination too, but the staff refused.[1]
  • Epita Smash Arena 3 was taking place on the same days, explaining the decreased number of players.

Trivia

  • This was the first time there was Melee events.
  • Adol's Lucas got chaingrabbed by Kid's Marth standing infinite chaingrab release during Saturday pools. The Bushido Impact staff asked them to redo the match with the same characters on the same stage. Adol won, 3 stocking Kid. Since that event, standing infinite chaingrabs are banned.
  • Although only 14 and 13 people attended, this time, Melee took place, and everyone went through pools.
  • As Melee pools were just here for bracket seeding, Doraki and Ashura sandbagged before the brackets : Ashura picked Kirby and Mr. Game & Watch and Doraki picked Pikachu during pools.
  • Though Slhoka only went to host the Melee event, he and Achoral had to report pool results and seed the brackets of both games, because the tournament going too slow.
  • Ashura won the Melee event on Saturday, though he was 7th seeded because of his excessive sandbagging in pools.
  • On Saturday, during Brawl singles, Charby defeated Glutonny's Wario with Zero Suit Samus' forward smash in winner semifinals.
  • Kaos claimed after the Saturday events that, as he won Brawl singles on Saturday, he was going to play Mr. Game & Watch on Sunday and not play seriously. He played Game & Watch all Sunday long, except against Glutonny.
  • Before Sunday Brawl brackets, Glutonny claimed he was sandbagging against some of the players during pools.
  • Achoral, Charby and Kaos didn't play as serious as on Saturday during Sunday Brawl singles, to focus more on Melee.
  • Achoral almost defeated Kaos during Sunday Brawl singles with his Ness. After that set, Achoral claimed to be not in mood to play seriously anymore, and sandbagged during the rest of the tournament, telling jokes or picking Sonic and spamming taunts, because his close matches against Kaos "made him too tired".
  • Achoral picked random against Kaos on their second match during Sunday Brawl singles, and got Marth on Smashville. Kaos banned Smashville once the battle was starting, so Achoral picked Ness again.

9th Impact

  • Blad01 restarted playing Brawl in this tournament, but stopped helping hosts.
  • Mr. R lost to Irios's Mario in loser quarterfinals.
  • Mr. R played as Link in a match against Kaos in loser's bracket. Kaos counterpicked Brinstar, and Mr. R didn't want to play as Marth in that stage.
  • Charby played most of his Brawl matches as Meta Knight, using the gamertag "VADOR".
