Idle Poses or Idle Animation is a pose that the character will do if the character doesn't move, attacks, or gets attacked. Idle poses can sometimes be a taunt too, like Sonic's idle pose, where he puts one of his hands on his waist and look at the camera with a waiting pose, and Ness's idle pose is almost exactly the same as Lucas' Down Taunt.

Although not being an idle pose, when crouching Donkey Kong will raise his hands then look right and left, a reference to Donkey Kong Country.
