This article is about the Super Smash Bros. Melee mode. For the Super Smash Bros. Brawl mode, see Subspace Emissary.

Adventure mode is a journey through Nintendo's many worlds. Along the way you'll not only fight the main characters of each world, but go through side scrolling stages based on the original games. Completing adventure mode will reward you with your character's red smash trophy.

World 1: Mushroom Kingdom

World 1-1

This is a classic side scrolling Mushroom Kingdom journey similar to World 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. You'll encounter Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Koopa Paratroopas. Just like in the original game and in its countless sequels, Goombas can be defeated with a single stomp or attack. Koopas will retreat into their shells when attacked which you can pick up and throw. Paratroopas will lose their wings after one attack. You don't need to defeat any enemies. Simply continue walking right until you reach a tiny round arena.

Yoshi team battle

You will be ambushed by ten lightweight Yoshis near the end of the level. You cannot backtrack or continue until you defeat all ten. Spin attacks are an effective way to defeat them if your character has one in their arensal. Up to three Yoshis will attack you at a time. After you defeat the Yoshis, continue until you reach the finish line.

World 1-2

World 1-2 is a battle with Mario and Peach on Princess Peach's Castle. They will try to attack you from both sides, so try to defeat one of them to make the battle easier.

If you finish world 1-1 with a 2 in the seconds digit of your time slot, you'll fight Luigi instead of Mario. If you defeat him, you'll be given the chance to unlock him as a playable character after completing Adventure Mode.

World 2: Kongo Jungle

World 2-1

This is a battle on the Kongo Jungle against two tiny Donkey Kongs. They are small, but still aggressive.

World 2-2

This battle takes place on Jungle Japes against a giant Donkey Kong. He is very clumsy. Even on high difficulty modes, chances are that he'll fall into the water before even getting the chance to attack you.

World 3: Underground Maze

World 3-1

3-1 takes place in a Legend of Zelda themed dungeon. Like 1-1, it's a side scrolling level. However, it is much more complex than 1-1. You'll encounter ReDeads, Like Likes, and Octoroks. ReDeads will try to bite you. This attack will hit you a few times for damage. Like Likes will try to suck you in, also damaging you a few times. Octoroks will spit rocks at you. All of these enemies can be KOed with a few attacks.

There are six rooms in the maze. Five of them contain Master Swords and one of them (random) contains the Triforce. Entering the Triforce room will cause you to complete the level. Entering one of the Master Sword rooms will result in a forced battle with Link. If you time your jumps carefully, you can sometimes jump over the sword and avoid the battle.

World 3-2

World 3-2 is a battle against Zelda on the Hyrule Temple. She can transform into Sheik who is faster but less powerful. Defeat her in either form to complete the level.

World 4: Brinstar

World 4-1

This is a battle with Samus on Brinstar. She will usually stay on the top platform to avoid the acid. Defeat her once.

World 4-2

You must escape from Brinstar in 40 seconds. Simply climb up until you reach the top. If you fail, the planet will explode and you'll lose a life. You'll still continue to world 5.

World 5: Green Greens

World 5-1

This is a simple battle with a single Kirby on Green Greens. Defeat him to finish the level.

World 5-2

Fifteen lightweight Kirbys will attack you, each one emulating another character's B button attack. As with the Yoshi battle, you'll fight up to 3 at a time. Spin attacks are effective.

World 5-3

If you completed world 5-2 in under 30 seconds, a giant Kirby will fight you. He is big, but also very clumsy. Take advantage of this.

World 6: Corneria

World 6-1

You will fight Fox on Corneria. There are no Arwings shooting at you in this match, and Fox will avoid you most of the time. Attack him aggressively to defeat him.

World 6-2

Fox will rematch you, and this time he'll be fast and furious. There will also be Arwings shooting at you. If you've unlocked Falco, you might fight him instead of Fox randomly. He behaves in the same way and has similar attacks.

World 7: Pokémon Stadium

World 7-1

12 Pikachu will attack you on the Pokémon Stadium. They are lightweight and you'll fight up to three at a time. Spin attacks are effective on them, as are Pokéballs. If you've unlocked Jigglypuff and/or Pichu, they may randomly replace the Pikachu in the battle.

World 8: F-Zero Grand Prix

World 8-1

This is a side scrolling stage. If you see a road sign with an ! appear on your screen, jump onto a pink platform. If you don't, the F-Zero racers will run over you, hitting you hard. Run to the end, avoiding the racers.

World 8-2

This is a one on one fight with Captain Falcon on Mute City. Watch out for his deadly Falcon punch.

World 9: Onett

World 9-1

You'll fight three Nesses on Onett. Avoid the street, since you might get hit by a car if you stay there too long. An ! sign will indicate when they're coming.
