Autoreticle (オート照準, Auto Alignment) is Palutena's neutral special move in Super Smash Bros. 4.[1]
Overview
Palutena locks on to a fighter in front of her, indicated by a green reticle, then she fires three blasts of light at them from her staff; each blast deals about 2.9%. The reticle does not follow the targeted opponent's movement, and can only lock on if there is an opponent in the move's range, such opponent is not invincible or intangible, and there are no obstacles - such as platforms or items - in the way.
If no opponent is in range, Palutena goes through the move animation, but no reticle appears and no projectiles are fired.
Customization
Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the variations:
1. Autoreticle | 2. Explosive Flame | 3. Heavenly Light |
---|---|---|
"Fire energy blasts from your staff directly at an opponent in front of you." | "Create a blast in front of you that can hit opponents multiple times." | "Surround yourself in rays of light that damage opponents." |
Origin
Autoreticle, an enhancement-type power, is one of the many powers Palutena lends to Pit in Kid Icarus: Uprising. When Pit uses this power, he automatically targets enemies for a period of time while attacking. This is shown by the power moving Pit's reticle over the enemy or enemies in front of him. The reticle itself that appears resembles the one in Uprising.
