Workshop: Star Fox in Super Smash Bros. 4
The Star Fox series largely remained dormant between the releases of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4. The sole exception was the release of Star Fox 64 3D, a remake of Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 3DS system. Some of its assets were used in Smash 4, and Corneria - a stage based on Star Fox 64 - appears exclusively in the 3DS version. Partnering with Namco Bandai for the development of Smash 4 enabled more content from Star Fox: Assault to appear in the Wii U version, which was also developed by Namco Bandai. In correlation with Star Fox's inactivity, Fox's rival Wolf O'Donnell does not return from Brawl.
Characters
- Fox: leader of the mercenary team Star Fox. Fox returns as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He appears to have higher-quality fur effects, but appears unchanged otherwise. His appearance is based off Star Fox Command and Star Fox Assault.
- Falco: the ace pilot of the Star Fox team and a close friend of Fox. His appearance is based off Star Fox Command.

- Fox Outfit (Gunner): This outfit is based on Fox. It was released with a corresponding hat as downloadable content on September 30th, 2015. The Mii wears a green flight suit with a white jacket and wields a Blaster. The outfit resembles the iteration of Fox from Star Fox 64 3D and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

- Smart Bomb: an explosive projectile from Star Fox 64. It is a powerful bomb with a very large blast radius, but the reaction rate is slower than most other bombs in Smash.
Assist Trophy
- Andross: a rogue scientist who became the main antagonist of the Star Fox series as he appears in the original SNES game. He is a giant, polygonal head that moves from the foreground into the background and expels projectile tiles from his mouth. He cannot be attacked by opponents and he does not attack the summoner. The Pic of the Day announcing revealing his return was spoken from the perspective of his nephew Andrew from Star Fox 64.
Smash Tour items
- Great Fox (Blue): the mothership of the Star Fox team. The user teleports to an unvisited checkpoint.
- Wolfen (Red): the standard fighter used by the Star Wolf team. The user inflicts 100% damage to a targeted opponent.

- Corneria: A returning stage from Melee that takes places on the Great Fox while flying over Corneria, using its design from Star Fox 64. This stage was confirmed to return when it was shown on the Features trailer.

- Lylat Cruise: the popular stage from Brawl makes its return as a Wii U exclusive.

Testing a potential new layout for the bottom of the universe pages, which are currently, well, a mess. Some information is specified multiple times and their is no cohesion. I think standardization would make these sections much easier to read, so I propose the following.
Referential Organization Scheme
- Elements are categorized into Fighter elements or Game elements. The latter are any elements from the applicable universe not apparent in the the fighters themselves and exist independently of them.
- Smash game: Elements within these categorizes are organized by their appearances in Smash titles. Smash titles are arranged in succession by their release dates (i.e. Smash 64, Melee, Brawl...)
- Fighter elements organization is yet to be finalized.
- Game elements rely on a similar organization scheme to the trophy collections.
- Items
- Assist trophy and Poké Ball characters
- Enemy characters (Adventure Mode, Subspace Emissary, Smash Run, and Smash Tour - not stage hazards)
- Bosses
- Stages (including elements specific to the stages, such as hazards, background objects)
- Music
- Masterpieces
- Challenges
Below is an example of how the above scheme would be implemented. I compiled all of the information specified on the Mario (universe) page concerning elements from Mario Bros.

Fighter elements
- Mario’s blue-and-red costume is based on his appearance on the Japanese arcade cabinet.[1]
- Mario’s cyan-and-pink costume resembles his appearance on the Famicom boxart.
- Luigi debuted in this title.
- Luigi’s cyan costume resembles Mario's appearance on the American N.E.S. boxart.
- Luigi's crawling animation is accompanied with this title's running sound effect.
- Wario's cyan-and-pink costume resembles Mario's appearance on the Famicom boxart.
Game elements
- The revival platform characters respawn on is similar to how characters respawn in this title after losing a life.
- The POW Block is in interactive object on Mushroom Kingdom and Mario Bros. in Smash 64 and Brawl, respectively. It is a throwing item in SSB4.
- The Freezie appears as a throwing item.
