An icon used in notice templates. NOTE: This is an unofficial Project. This is not endorsed by any Admins, and the only one working on this currently is me. If you want to contribute to this project by creating your own userpage to eventually be moved to main, feel free to add them to the list below. Outside of that, I request that you refrain from editing this article (although minor grammar fixes, rewordings, and spelling fixes are fine), but, if I'm being honest, I probably wouldn't care unless it's an egregious change. If you want to help by editing any of the move pages listed below, feel free to do so (just read the notice that's at the top of every article before editing!)

Currently, every special move (that I'm aware of) in the Smash Bros. series has a move page which is independent of any game, and focuses on the move at a high level, a.k.a how the move functions, what its purpose is, its origins, what it looks like in each game, etc. While there might be some technical details (such as Skull Bash listing the damage the move deals in each game, both uncharged & fully charged), this is generally reserved for the move's subpage in each game. There are some non-special moves that have move pages like these, but these are rare compared to the amount of special moves. In fact, there's only seven that I currently know of, three of which are Tether grabs/Grab aerials* and one of which started out as a special move before being changed into an aerial†:

This project is an attempt to change that by adding move pages for a character's notable non-special moves, hereafter referred to in this page as Normals from the fighting game definition. I've listed my criteria below for whether or not a fighter's normal is noteworthy enough to have its own move page. A move doesn't have to satisfy every point, but it does a majority to be considered for this project. If a move has a fighter tip with its name attached, then it's likely a good candidate (since it satisfies criteria 1-3).

Soft criteria:

  1. It has a special property (it has a rare effect, it is unusually strong, it grants the user armor or invincibility, it spawns a projectile, it has high shield damage, etc...) that sets it apart from most fighters' normals.
  2. The developers consider it noteworthy enough to call it out from the rest of a fighter's kit (it's mentioned in places such as a fighter's trophy, on the Smash Bros. DOJO!!, or in a fighter tip).
  3. It has an official name listed in at least one game (usually a trophy or fighter tip), and preferably listed in multiple places.
  4. It has appeared in more than one game, preferably three or more (less required for fighers who were only added in Sm4sh or Ultimate).
  5. It is visually distinct in animation from most fighters' normals.
  6. It is character-defining or fits a fighter's personality/playstyle extremely well.
  7. It has an origin outside of the Smash series.

The move that perfectly fits this criteria is Zero Suit Samus's down smash, Slant Paralyzer. It: 1) inflicts the paralyze effect and has very low knockback for a smash attack, 2) is mentioned both on the Smash Bros. DOJO and on one of her fighter tips, 3) is named in the aforementioned fighter tip and the Japanese guidebook which, according to User:BubbleRevolution, matches the English name (スラントパラライザー), 4) is her down smash for every appearance in the Smash Bros. series (Brawl, Sm4sh, and Ultimate), 5) involves her twirling on a single leg, aiming her pistol diagonally downward, and firing, 6) fits her playstyle of being a combo-centric, rushdown-oriented fighter with some disjointed zoning tools/projectiles, and 7) is based on her pistol and animations from Zero Mission.

Down below is a list of every move that is currently a part of this project, ordered by how well they fit the criteria (although this is admittedly subjective):

As mentioned in the notice at the top of this page, if you're working on a move page similar to mine, feel free to add it to the list above. NOTE: low quality pages will be removed; this doesn't mean the page has to be nearly done, but low-effort/sloppy and/or joke pages won't be tolerated.
