Origin game as opposed to artwork source[edit]

For a few examples (e.g. Starfy), the artwork shown is from a later game than which the character first debuted (Starfy is shown with his The Legendary Starfy artwork, but the character debuted earlier beginning with Densetsu no Stafy). Would it be worth adding a different column; so one could be something such as "Source of artwork" and the other could be "Original appearance", or should it be left? Torchickens (talk) 13:20, 4 November 2018 (EST)

I think the Spirits should also mention the series/universe the character has come from especially for the other section in Ultimate since it counts as part of official sources in "Ultimate". This is especially a problem with both the Rusty Slugger and Inuji Darumeshi Spirits, technically they both come from the same series but simply asking the character's origin won't tell me that they are in the same series without looking for a regional differences of Rusty's Real Deal Baseball. --MinorEdits (talk) 16:01, 16 December 2018 (EST)

Looks like Wonder-red disappeared[edit]

Someone added another name and in the process it looks like Wonder Red's entry disappeared, not sure how that happened (looking at the history it looks like someone did it by mistake) Collateralshrek (talk) 23:11, 13 November 2018 (EST)

Looks like it was fixed, wow that was fast, didn't notice timestrap that it was within the past 15 minutes when it happened either till now.Collateralshrek (talk) 23:16, 13 November 2018 (EST)

I saw Ayumi Tachibana as a Spirit in Ultimate, but I'm unsure what type of Spirit she is[edit]

Specifically she has the Escape effect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY64LcjPIWk&feature=youtu.be&t=292 --MinorEdits (talk) 21:42, 20 November 2018 (EST)

Which Custom Robo is Ray MKII from?[edit]

So the Wikipedia link goes to a disam page (edit: actually it goes to the page for the series, was thinking it went to a disam which another game did which I did fix), there are 2 games with that name-but I'm not sure which one he is from. Thanks. (I'm guessing the one from 1999, but I'm not sure) Collateralshrek (talk) 15:23, 21 November 2018 (EST)

Ray MKII is from Custom Robo V2, and reappeared in Custom Robo Arena. (The later is where his Spirit artwork comes from) SuperSmashTurtles (talk) 00:02, 23 November 2018 (EST)

Mappo[edit]

Hello, do we have any more information about this one? I have something on my mind but I'm unsure if it's true so take with a pinch of salt (this can easily be deconfirmed when we get the Mappo screenshot). Mappo's ordering on a SSBU Spirits Pastebin leak (I won't link it just in case it isn't allowed) was listed after Starfy, Moe, Old Man Lobber, Mermaid, Starly, Mattel) and the lack of a Pokkle spirit anywhere in the list made me wonder whether it isn't the Mappo from GiFTPiA, but if it was intended to be a character called Mappū in the The Legendary Starfy series, known outside of Japan as Globerto. In the fifth Starfy game (called "The Legendary Starfy") there is a character known as Globerto, who in the Japanese version is known as マプー (Mapū). Thanks. What The Heck Happened to Rayman's picture?[edit]

I added it in a while ago, and now its gone for some reason. I wan't to know what happened to it, was it a datamined picture?, or was it just a lazy canadite for the images?--Frezzysnezzly (talk) 12:09, 26 November 2018 (EST)

Yay, Its back--Frezzysnezzly (talk) 14:01, 26 November 2018 (EST)

Spirit page proposal[edit]

Hello. Before I start adding the template (I already have all the information to finish all the spirit pages) I'd like to summit the proposal found right now in the Sandbox as an idea on how to show and organize this pages. I think that the spirit battle information is different from the information of the spirit itself so it could be moved. Anyways, not sure where to post this discussion or if imporvements should be made to my idea. GamblerMario (talk) 18:14, 17 December 2018 (EST)

Please redirect any comments to the ongoing discussion in the Sandbox page. Thanks. GamblerMario (talk) 18:24, 17 December 2018 (EST)

Muddy Mole differences in PAL version[edit]

Shovel Knight Spirits may have been in a different order prior to updates.[edit]

So in the final game, the Shovel Knight Spirits are listed between the Dillon Spirits and the Culdcept Spirits when they are ordered by Series.

However, several videos I have found that listed all the Spirits actually list them between the Rayman Spirit and the Clip & Snip Spirit:

Seeing how these videos were published just the day before Ultimate released, coupled by the fact that all three videos I showed feature the unaltered Game & Watch: Fire Attack Spirit, this seemingly means the Shovel Knight Spirits actually had their order changed in the Day 1 update. (Which, funnily enough, actually put them in the wrong placement when their prior placement is more accurate to how other series are ordered. See the Trivia entry of the main page for more info.) Some more details about an edit I made[edit]

https://www.ssbwiki.com/index.php?title=List_of_spirits_(Others)&oldid=1175887

In the summary I meant page 8 of the Chee-Chai Alien manual rather than 'page 8 of artwork', sorry about this. Basically for this artwork it's alongside a speech bubble telling you about the Game Boy Color controls and how they are used in the game, but it was reused for Nonono Puzzle Chalien's manual-poster. Add palette color to spirit fight list[edit]

I thought it would be important to have this too, because in each fight the puppet fighter uses the palette that is closest to the spirit you're trying to release. Even if it's just aesthetic, I think it should prove how much effort the development team put in the game and in trying to make the experience as deep as possible for the player. I'm suggesting this because I cannot recall all of them, and I don't just have the time to run through all of World of Light again or hang around Spirit Board waiting for all of them to show up. 189.94.119.12 20:23, 21 February 2019 (EST)

The characters icons in the Enemy Fighter(s) column are already using the palette used for each fighter. I think it's good enough to show which palette is used without cramping the table. YoshiRyu (talk) 16:18, March 19, 2019 (EDT)

Tank & Infantry in Spirit Board ?[edit]

While I have a screenshot of this spirit's battle being in the Spirit Board, another user told me that this particular spirit may have been available in the Spirit Board exclusively during an event. I have no way to know if I took that screenshot during that even or not, but I never managed to see it again since this user pointed that out. So if anyone see that particular spirit in the Spirit Board outside of any event, please come here to tell. Otherwise, it may be necessary to add a mention of its Spirit Battle being avalaible only during events. YoshiRyu (talk) 16:15, March 19, 2019 (EDT)

Alternative Spirit Battles?[edit]

Something weird happened: While Cuphead and Mugman spirit battles both have been seen on twitter featuring a red and a blue Megaman, I got to fight Mii Gunners with the Cuphead costume instead... Is it possible that those two spirit battles have different settings depending on if you have the DLC costume or not? Can people who didn't buy the Cuphead costume confirm here that they got to fight Megaman and not Mii Gunners? YoshiRyu (talk) 04:27, February 14, 2020 (EST)

Apparently yes, according to the Ready? Wallop! page, those who didn't download the Cuphead suits instead fight Mega Man. 001Toad.jpg OmegαToαd64 04:35, February 14, 2020 (EST)
Can confirm. No DLC, no Cuphead Miis and no Cuphead Music.--CanvasK (talk) 04:38, February 14, 2020 (EST)

That's going to be a mess... what should we do? Should we duplicate the lines like I do bellow? YoshiRyu (talk) 05:38, February 14, 2020 (EST)

I'd say the second looks less repetitive. 001Toad.jpg OmegαToαd64 05:43, February 14, 2020 (EST)
Agreed on the second one. More readable, minimizes edit errors, fewer bytes, and less repetitive.--CanvasK (talk) 05:56, February 14, 2020 (EST)

Well, I've done it: I added a slightly grey background to highlight the DLC version, and put a reusable footnote to explain in a general way why some spirit battles have alternative settings (that will work for any future similar situation). YoshiRyu (talk) 07:01, February 18, 2020 (EST)

Cuphead pngs?[edit]

Are there no png images of the renders of the Cuphead spirits available outside of the in-game rips? I've scoured for a very long time and can't find any that are identical to the ones used for the spirits. Is the person who usually does the in-game rips unavailable at this time?

I was wondering this too; how do we not have transparent PNGs for them yet? Aykrivwassup (talk) 14:20, March 16, 2020 (EDT)
It's because we don't take fan transparencies, and instead rely on the images being ripped from the game's files, which Cuphead hasn't had yet. Aidan, the Rurouni 14:24, March 16, 2020 (EDT)
I know Random Talking Bush on Spriters Resource often has the rips, but he has said "Due to changes in the backend regarding event-based Spirits, I actually cannot rip the Link's Awakening spirits yet (or any others not tied to character releases in the future)". I'm not aware of anyone else who has the tools to rip the images. We may have to wait until something changes that allows them to be ripped.--CanvasK (talk) 14:28, March 16, 2020 (EDT)
While we're on the subject of non-transparent spirit images: We still don't have an image for the Natah spirit at all. Would this [1] be a suitable replacement until the spirit itself gets ripped? Moving ARMS spirits[edit]

With the unknown ARMS fighter appearing soon, for those of us who want to move the spirits to its own list, I think it's fair that after the ARMS DLC is released, we should look at the base spirits on the Spirit Collection list and see if they have the ARMS symbol put up. That way, we'll know when to move them. Juju1995 (talk) 20:37, March 26, 2020 (EDT)

I'm not opposed to giving ARMS its own page, but we need to wait for it to be confirmed that they are counted as their own before removing them from this page. I'll definitely be watching the spirits collection and the ability plates to see if there is a change and updating as needed. I'll also be checking for the series damage bonus to be sure.--CanvasK (talk) 20:45, March 26, 2020 (EDT)

Ralf & Clark[edit]

If I'm not mistaken, SmashWiki's current practice is that spirits featuring multiple characters (such as Ralf & Clark) have their "origin game" as the first game featuring both characters together as a duo, rather than separately listing their individual debuts, in order to reduce the amount of content in the origins column. Examples include Boom Boom & Pom Pom, Dixie Kong & Kiddy Kong, Donkey Kong & Bongos (even though Bongos isn't a character, but I digress), and Skull Kid & Majora's Mask. --PeabodySam (talk) 15:15, April 17, 2020 (EDT)

A counterargument I would like to make to this is that all of the examples you listed have atleast one of the characters within them appear as standalone spirits (Boom Boom, Dixie Kong, Donkey Kong, and both Skull Kid and Majora's Mask which makes me wonder why the "Skull Kid & Majora's Mask" isn't a Summon Spirit. Neither Ralf nor Clark have a standalone spirit of their own, meaning there's no way to know that Ralf didn't debut in Ikari Warriors. To prove my point, Banjo & Kazooie's spirit doesn't follow this rule on the BK spirits page. If I can be quite honest, though, I feel like the "origin game" and "artwork origin" parts should be removed altogether as no info like that is present in-game. SmashTurtlesSig1.pngSuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle TribeSmashTurtlesSig2.png 15:21, April 17, 2020 (EDT)
Well, that discussion is what this forum is for (but, as a counterpoint, SmashWiki in general is full of "origin game" information that isn't present in-game, so I don't see why this should be held against spirits). Otherwise, I suppose it's a fair point that the other "duo spirits" have another spirit for the individual character debuts. --PeabodySam (talk) 15:29, April 17, 2020 (EDT)
