There are a lot of franchises represented in Smash. But how familiar am I with them outside of Smash? For sake of brevity, I’ll only do the universes with a stage or fighter. The universes are sorted by how familiar I am with each from most familiar to least familiar. Within each table, universes are listed in order of the fighter number of the universe's first fighter (smallest to biggest), in the case of a fighter-based universe, or in the following order, in the case of a stage-based universe:

• Stage-based universes debuting in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
• Stage-based universes debuting in Super Smash Bros. 4.
  • Specifically, stage-based universes debuting in the 3DS version go first, due to it releasing first, and then stage-based universes debuting in the Wii U version.

Franchises located here are franchises that I have a lot of experience with, have played for a long time, or know a lot about.

Franchise	Experience
Mario	One of my favorite franchises of all time, I've played a decent amount of the games. The majority of the games on my Switch 2 are Mario games. Super Mario Bros. was one of my first video games, I think, and I played it on NES Classic.
Donkey Kong	I've played the NES version of Donkey Kong, in addition to some of the other NES ports of arcade DK games, and the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, all via NSO. In addition to those, I’ve also played Donkey Kong Bananza. Very good game. I don’t have the DLC, though.
The Legend of Zelda	I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan, and the only three games I've played are The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, all via NSO. I've not actually completed any of those three. I do know a lot of the lore, though.
Yoshi	I've played Yoshi and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island both via NSO. In addition to them, I've also played Yoshi's Crated World, and I will play Yoshi and the Mysterious Book when it comes out.
Kirby	I've played Kirby's Adventure, on both NES Classic and NSO, as well as Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby Super Star, and Kirby's Dream Land 3 via NSO. I’ve also played Super Kirby Clash, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. I'm considering getting Kirby Star Allies, as well as Kirby Air Riders and the Switch 2 edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
