Deletion discussion[edit]

Delete. Information regarding Pit's palette swap can easily be covered on the relevant page (or not at all; it reeks of original research and speculation), and information regarding his appearance in Palutena's reveal trailer is frankly not important enough to warrant an entire article; at best, a small blurb of some sort can be featured on background characters or a small sentence on either Pit's and/or Palutena's respective pages.

If Dark Pit is revealed as a character (as if!), he can have a page. But a palette swap that predates the character and a minor appearance in an unrelated reveal trailer aren't grounds for an entire article.

Support I agree; there's just not enough to warrant a page of his own yet. Berrenta (talk) 21:06, 15 June 2014 (EDT)

Support As has been said, this article is just filled with speculative fluff and nothing warrants him having a page. --EndGenuity (talk) 19:37, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

just wait for the next reveal video they are talking about other characters like Mewtwo and maybe other Ninco (maybe spelled wrong) guys like the addition on Pac-Man --Reshiram1105 (talk) 16:24, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

Where did you hear that? I don't remember hearing anything like that anywhere. Berrenta (talk) 16:29, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

Oppose. I can't consider this not notable enough when we also have a page on Dark Link, who also is little more than a palette swap or a simple model blackening in a few event matches. It's highly likely that Dark Pit will appear in the same capacity as the male Wii Fit Trainer as an alternate version of regular Pit, which is somewhat more significant than a minor model recoloring. At the very least, the whole "crash Palutena's party" thing from the trailer makes it hard to believe that he won't appear in the game in some way. Not exactly the kind of thing you just put in as a throwaway cameo.

VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 16:49, 24 June 2014 (EDT)

The problem is the highly likely thing, and what you're considering notable. Dark Link has appeared in event matches because of his concept. This is more than just about every single other reskin of a character (bar Toon Link), because Dark Link was intentionally placed in these events to represent his relation to Link in the actual games. Dark Pit, on the other hand, has only appeared as a slight palette swap, while although he is "hinted" at having a bigger role in the Smash series, such a thing has yet to be confirmed, seeing as how he could just easily become another costume that's part of the whole, "we can change more than colors" thing that Nintendo is doing. In addition, this page can easily be recreated in the future if he actually does have a big role. MegaTron1XDDecepticon.png 16:57, 24 June 2014 (EDT)
Support Subject is not notable for an entire article. Mr. Guye (talk) 20:32, 27 June 2014 (EDT)
Support Dark Pit is in Brawl nothing but a palette swap, and the appearance in the trailer is only a hint of what may or may not come in a future game. Kage (talk) 00:01, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
End this now. Seriously, even the article says it is unknown if it will appear in any capacity.Qwerty the lord Nessytrewq.jpg 00:59, 1 July 2014 (EDT)
Merge with Doc Louis and Rename it to "List of minor trailer characters" or something of the sort. I agree that Dark Pit does not deserve his own article, as palette swaps and background characters don't have one and consistency is always crucial. However, despite how minor he is, Dark Pit's still a part of Smash and deserves mention. A sentence in background characters wouldn't be appropriate, since that article focuses solely on minor characters within stages. The Pit and Palutena articles wouldn't work either, since they are completely separate characters. Maybe mention in the Kid Icarus (universe) page, but I think it would be nice to have a neat list of all the trailer characters, as it would be organized and easy to find instead of searching through lengthy universe pages just to find info about those characters. There would be information about Dark Pit, Doc Louis, the Animal Crossing characters in the Villager trailer, the Pokemon in the Greninja trailer who weren't confirmed as Pokeballs, etc. Perhaps info about characters who appeared in past Smash videos could be included too (like maybe some characters in the Melee opening movie?) Is it a good idea? SS&W (talk) 14:29, 1 July 2014 (EDT)
Doc Louis is a different case; as we saw at E3, he appears in Little Mac's victory pose as well. My impression was that any character who had voice acting in Smash-related media deserved a page. Miles (talk) 14:32, 1 July 2014 (EDT)
If we are to create a list of that sort, that seems like a more viable solution. And as for Doc Louis, I agree with Miles; his appearance in Little Mac's victory pose sets him apart from that group. Berrenta (talk) 14:58, 1 July 2014 (EDT)

This really doesn't need it's own page yet. Dark Link is notable for appearing as an unplayable character in melee prior to becoming a palette swap, and Dark Samus is an assist trophy. Until we have confirmation that Dark Pit will be anything more than an alternate costume (potentially with alternate voice clips), this page has no purpose. FirstaLasto 15:32, 1 July 2014 (EDT)

Oppose. I say we leave this article as it is until it is confirmed that Dark Pit will/will not appear in SSB4. Harro (talk) 19:48, 18 July 2014 (EDT)

This article was easy to create, and if Dark Pit actually shows up in SSB4 to a major capacity, we can just re-create the page because it was incredibly easy to create it in the first place. MegaTron1XDDecepticon.png 20:18, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
Um... Anyone? Qwerty (talk) 22:53, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
Hopefully we can reach a consensus soon. This page has been sitting with the delete notice for quite some time now. If we aren't deleting it, I'm in favor of having the subject incorporated into a page with a list of cameos from other Smash games and media. Berrenta (talk) 23:06, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
Delete again. I've already said this, but the article even says it's unknown if it will appear in any capacity. A page is not required for every dark version. And to Harro: We could create a page on Potato (SSB4) until confirmed otherwise. Qwerty (talk) 17:57, 31 July 2014 (EDT)
Has Potato made a cameo appearence in a trailer (sarcasm)? Don't be a smartass with me! Harro (talk) 07:52, 2 August 2014 (EDT)

It's been almost two months. What's the verdict? Blue Ninjakoopa 22:34, 6 August 2014 (EDT)

As stands, we've established that this article really isn't important enough to exist. However, it has been suggested by SS&W that a general page for all characters who appear in the trailers without appearing in the actual Smash games should be made. I actually agree with the creation of such a page, with the page serving as a "home" for those trailer characters until they receive an actual role in the Smash games.
All arguments in favor of keeping this page have been dismantled because this page is absurdly easy to make. It wouldn't be hard at all to re-make this page if Dark Pit indeed gains an appearance in the Smash franchise. MegaTron1XDDecepticon.png 00:23, 7 August 2014 (EDT)

Per everyone else who decided to delete this, yeah, I agree with them. He isn't that really that notable or as famous as Dark Link, who is an exception that is a notable character in the Zelda series. Dots (talk) Link OoT Dots.PNG The Disc 20:52, 11 August 2014 (EDT)

Delete Dark pit hasn't had any other Smash Bros appearances outside being an alternative costume. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is a never lover boy 21:02, 11 August 2014 (EDT)

Delete Until his inevitable role is confirmed, and maybe not even then depending on his role. Assist Trophies, bosses, and playable characters (as well as some other roles like Chrom or Dark Link) are the only ones that should get pages. Characters that share an appearance with a palette swap that predates the character and made a small unclear appearance in a trailer. So yeah. ...a new NuttaNutta's Mallo sig.pngis approaching...

I say we wait things out, if we're not moving Rosalina for unofficial reasons, we shouldn't delete Dark Pit's page. The fact that he appeared in a trailer and in official promo art has to be worth something, right? If not then we'll just delete the page when we know the full details of the game, because we're gonna feel real stupid if we delete this page and he turns out to be playable or more realistically, an assist trophy. Oppose Laikue (talk) 21:22, 17 August 2014 (EDT)

BTW, admins can restore deleted pages, so if Dark Pit has a more important role, it can return. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is made in America 21:27, 17 August 2014 (EDT)
Retracted my support vote, so now I'm neutral leaning towards oppose. Sure, the page can be restored after deletion, but if it's deleted shortly before information pops up, that would be bad timing. Berrenta (talk) 21:34, 17 August 2014 (EDT)

He's confirmed, so someone with admin privileges edit the article, please. I'd do it myself, but... *groan* It's protected. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 02:48, 11 September 2014 (EDT)

SSB4-3DS Street Date Break leaked info[edit]

Dark Pit does not fight using a bow like Pit does, instead he fights using a staff (which are treated more like guns in KI:U). Source. He fights using the Dark Pit Staff.
Ixbran (talk) 03:11, 11 September 2014 (EDT)

Watching the streams, he is a 100% Pit Clone, haven't seen his Final Smash but it seems like his staff is used for taunts. [1] One is playing Dark Pit as we speak. Laikue (talk|contribs) 03:23, 11 September 2014 (EDT)
