Evolution 2007, officially EVO World 2007 or simply known as EVO 2007, was the 6th edition of the Evolution Championship Series, a fighting game tournament held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, which took place from August 24th-26th, 2007, at the Green Valley Ranch. It was the final tournament of the EVO 2007 circuit, which consisted of EVO South, EVO North, EVO West, and EVO East. The top 8 finishers for each of the previous events were automatically qualified for the bracket round at EVO World.[1] It was the largest Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament before the international release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl with 270 players in attendance.

Tournament summary[edit]
Some notable upsets occurred during this tournament. Mango, who at the time was a Jigglypuff main on the come up, beat Mew2King in pools, then considered to be the best player in the world. Mew2King then lost to Chillin in the losers top 8 qualifier to finish at an underwhelming 9th place. Mango continued his run by upsetting Ken in winners-semis. He then lost to HugS in winners finals and Ken in a losers finals rematch to finish at 3rd place. Ken, after getting upset by Mango, made a losers run beating ChuDat, PC Chris, Mango, and HugS in 2 sets of grand finals to win the tournament. This became Ken's final major victory, and was also one of the closest a Samus player came to winning a major; since then, this placement has only been tied once, with Duck being the runner-up at Full Bloom 3. After the tournament, many analysts wrote off Mango's win against Mew2King and 3rd place finish as a fluke until his win at Pound 3.
