A green gooey mass inside the Poltergust G-00 is not his "main" form (at least, not the form from which his name is derived), but it's still him (and indeed, it is a form he would likely be in for most of the single-player mode of the game in which this Poltergust is later used), not inside of any other character or anything, but rather visibly him. The only potential argument against I can think of would have been that because the appearance in Smash predated much of our information about mariowiki, we didn't initially know that it was Gooigi there, but by now we can say it clearly is him. Maybe there are some better counterexamples that would demonstrate why including a character seen in an identifiable and distinct yet somewhat nonstandard-for-them form would be a slippery slope, but those examples I've seen are quite unsatisfying. I think we all want this wiki to be as comprehensive about the details of Smash, and I think this is a reasonable inclusion to that end. I hope this is convincing to people, or if not, that some discussion can bring about a resolution on this. Pk62001 (talk) 17:06, October 26, 2022 (EDT)

:Since I had to zoom in a lot on the Poltergust to discern whether it was a single green object or a green something behind glass, I wouldn't say it is clear at least to someone who doesn't know about Gooigi (there is a thin layer of glass by the way). This isn't helped by it always filling the entire thing and not allowing for air pockets or liquid physics (like with Inkling's Ink Tank) to help clarify that it isn't a solid chunk of plastic or whatever. I'll admit that a character that can only be implied (like the ones I mentioned in my summary) are a stretch. However, there is one character that I think is a better fit for this: Madama Butterfly. She is always present in Bayonetta's shadow, which is why her shadow has butterfly wings. If others think that Gooigi should be mentioned, then Madama Butterfly should get a mention as Bayo's shadow along with her being in the smash attacks. --CanvasK (talk) 17:38, October 26, 2022 (EDT)

Bosses

The various bosses should be listed simply as "bosses"; not that I don't feel that each of the bosses could be listed, but certainly not in bold face or anything; just as the adventure mode enemies are addressed. Zixor (talk) 19:30, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Giga Bowser

Why does it have Gig Bowser as an unplayable character if giga bowser is playable (as bowser's final smash)?--MỸŠŦЄЯỸЊӘҒҒ TALK 04:13, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Not really the same thing. The page is talking about the Giga Bowser that can be harmed and defeated in Melee. GutripperSpeak if you are worthy

what about that weird giant diddy and dark bowser?Lucas-IV- Paper TosserLucas kirby.jpg 09:28, 19 May 2011 (EDT)

Giant Diddy is playable via mushroom, and what Dark Bowser? MegaTron1XD:p 10:18, 19 May 2011 (EDT)
Dark Bowser = from the SSE.--Wolf rulez! Yes he does! 10:19, 19 May 2011 (EDT)
Huge dark weird diddy kong = from SSELucas-IV- Paper TosserLucas kirby.jpg 10:21, 19 May 2011 (EDT)
Both would be considered under the Subspace Army. If you want, you can make a False Characters section. MegaTron1XD:p 10:24, 19 May 2011 (EDT)

Move

I strongly support this move. Not only is the term Non-Playable Character more commonplace, it also makes more sense to use than Unplayable Character. Berrenta (talk) 09:51, 21 October 2014 (EDT)

I also strongly support the move. I've never heard "unplayable character" outside of SmashWiki, only NPC/non-playable character. PikaSamus (talk) PikaSamus 10:23, 21 October 2014 (EDT)
Strong support. Per above. Unknown the Hedgehog 12:14, 26 October 2014 (EDT)

Melee Stage Hands

I added in a section about this, but it was removed for not being the "kind of stuff we're talking about." I would like to submit that there isn't another article talking about these characters and that we already include "common enemies" on here which are basically items. In addition to stage hands and common enemies, I think this list of non-playables should include item characters such as Mr. Saturn and all of the Pokemon. JiffyD (talk) 18:38, 19 April 2017 (EDT)

Every stage that has these characters has a section on them (or at least mentions them). Most of them even have their own articles (I ran out of words, but here's more). I think that's enough, really. This pages' scope is mostly for fully controllable (by use of debug tools or hacks) characters with full, fleshed out movesets. This is why SSE and Smash Run enemies aren't here (SSE does have a link to a better article for it, but eh whatever). Serpent SKSig.png King 19:26, 19 April 2017 (EDT)
Oh okay that makes sense. Its weird that the "common enemies" would be included though. JiffyD (talk) 02:04, 20 April 2017 (EDT)

Gooigi as a moveset NPC

I feel it was not ideal for CanvasK to simply undo my constructive edit without due discussion first, but I of course don't want to edit war so I'll go ahead and start that discussion here. It is true that there are several such of what I would call "implicit characters" found in the movesets of certain fighters, like Sothis's heart in Byleth and Zanza being the soul of Shulk's Monado, and I very much agree that listing them all would be inappropriate for this page as they are not all clearly identifiable as that character's form. However, I think Gooigi is a different situation. While something like Sothis being inside of Byleth is something you cannot visibly see (except in the last 2 alternate costumes, and even that, that is not Sothis's personal form, but a merged form of the two), and Zanza in the Monado is just his soul, Gooigi inside the Poltergust G-00 during Luigi's grabs, throws, and final smash is his visible, identifiable, physical form, totally comparable to something like Toad in Peach's moves or Navi in Young Link's taunts.
