This forum has the purpose of helping to select what battles will eventually take place in the Smash Arena. If you would like to make a suggestion, please feel free to leave it here. New suggestions are placed at the bottom of the page. Be sure to state your reasons why you suggested it and put the support, reject, and comments sections underneath it.

Like the idea? Be sure to give it your support. Note that this page is not to be used for the actual voting between fighters; that happens in the Arena itself. Remember, the combatants don't necessarily have to be able to fight each other normally in Smash Bros.

Rules

  • The SA operator(s) has final say over all the fights. Suggestions and comments are merely a way for the community to influence the fights.
  • Sign your suggestions/votes/comments with ~~~~ and a # in front of it (you don't necessarily have to put # in the comments sections, but you do have to sign with ~~~~).
  • Don't vote for your own suggestion. You automatically vote for it if you suggest it.
  • Do not post more than one suggestion at a time. Each user may post one suggestion per week.
  • Post why you support/oppose. Don't just say "Oh, this is a cool idea". Explain why you like/don't like the fight.
  • You can remove your own suggestion, but it still counts as your suggestion for that week.
  • Similarily to the above, you cannot edit a suggestion once people have started to vote on it. Editing the description is fine; just don't replace, add, or remove combatants.
  • Place new suggestions at the bottom of page. If you place them at the top, they may be lost.
  • Do not use this page to argue with other users over their reasons and opinions. You can civilly point out an inconsistency or mistake in their description, but if you say things like "That's stupid" that could potentially start an argument in the comments, you are breaching this rule.
  • The comments section is to be used for relevant comments.
  • Check this list to view the fights that have been done; currently no repeat fights are permitted.
  • Suggestions are purged every time a new Smash Arena round is posted. It is at this time they are either accepted and placed into the queue, or they are rejected. Not all suggestions are purged at once.
  • In the vein of the above, do not repost a suggestion of yours that has been removed, since it's either already lined up or been rejected. Reposting it after time has passed is generally a bad idea, since if it's already in the queue it's a waste of time, and if it was rejected the first time chances are it will remain that way. See the Queue section for an idea of how long it may take for your suggestion to show up.
  • Only Smash Bros.-related fights are permitted. Fights don't have to be between playable characters, but the combatants must have appeared in at least one Smash Bros. game.
  • Acceptance of fights is not based simply on votes. The votes are used to judge the community's opinion of the matchup; again it is solely the operator(s)'s decision on what the bouts are.
  • If there are already 10 open suggestions, you should probably reconsider adding a new one. If there are 15, is is highly recommended you do not. There is no limit to the number of open suggestions, but having too many clutters the page and makes it more difficult to keep track of.
  • And finally, do not make this page into the Smash Arena itself. This is for deciding what goes there, not voting on which would win.

Queue

The current queue is as such:

66 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76

Hover the cursor over a round number to see its predicted start date.

When the queue gets too long, suggestions will be suspended. You may continue to vote on current suggestions, but no more may be proposed. Once the queue drains out suggestions will be re-opened.

The queue is not set in stone; new suggestions may appear before older ones and it may change at any time. The queue is designed to attempt to balance out fights so that participants aren't used too much in a short time, as well as

The contents of the queue are a secret to maintain mystery and intrigue.

Deoxys vs Suicune

Two legendary Pokemon from different generations, but both have good effects and are very powerful. Who will dominate, the aqua canine or the alien mutant? -BrawlingbrianFalcoHead.png LANDMASTER! 20:00, 18 December 2010 (EST)

  1. While both pokemon aren't similar in look or in the Pokemon games, as pokeball pokemon, they do have notable similarities and key differences. Both are among four pokemon who can OHKO in Brawl, and they both attack via beam. Then when you compare the functioning of their beam attacks, they have some key differences. Suicune hits once, is completed very quickly, and traverses the whole screen horizontally. Deoxys' hits multiple times, takes more than a few seconds to be completed, and traverses the whole screen vertically. With these key similarities and differences, I fully support this matchup. This is imo, the most interesting matchup proposed among the current suggestions. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 11:34, 19 December 2010 (EST)

Pikmin vs. Popo

Both semi-characters, not exactally playable. One looks to its freind, the other(s) look to their captain. Who will win? The kid, or the hybrids? Freddy32 (talk) 16:38 19 December 2010 (EST)

Support

  1. Uhm, I think you mean Nana, as Nana is the default support Ice Climber, not Popo. Therefore, having Pikmin vs. Nana is more sensible. But otherwise, I completely disagree with those of the oppose section. Minus these two, Olimar and the Ice Climbers would be bottom of the bottom tier, unable to do anything that brought them into the high tier. These two supporting characters are essential to the playable character they're a part of and their advance techniques. I'll also like to remind those in the oppose section that the Smash Arena isn't limited to playable characters, or anything for that matter. As long as it exists in the Smash universe, it's fair game for the Smash Arena. So these two being "semi-characters" is irrelevant for whether or not this would "work" in the Smash Arena. For a concluding statement, Olimar vs. Ice Clmbers could work instead, though I find this matchup more interesting. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 12:47, 22 December 2010 (EST)

OT, the thing is, both need to have articles. Pikmin has an article, but Nana doesn't, so I don't think it could work. Furthermore, Nana isn't always the secondary Ice Climber. Mr. Anon (talk) 15:37, 22 December 2010 (EST)

There's nothing that says something needs an article to be involved in a matchup in the Smash Arena, you're just making unnecessary assertions. And Nana is the default support climber. Therefore, having her in a matchup against Pikmin is correct in a matchup of support characters. One's alternate costume preference has no bearing here. Battlefield vs Final Destination

The two most basic stages in Melee and Brawl and the stages that have appeared in every Smash game. Both have epic music. Both are mysterious floating platforms whose origins are unknown, in space, and another that apparently can teleport around. One, the home of the great Master Hand, and the other, the home of his formidable army. Mr. Anon (talk) 20:04, 20 December 2010 (EST)

  1. Although Final Destination is not exacty a fair stage, both stages are representing the Super Smash Bros universe and are argueably the most played stages in SSBM and SSBB. I think this would be a great idea.--Shaun's Wiji Dodo talk Untitled-1 copy.gif 00:49, 21 December 2010 (EST)

Your description is faulty. Final Destination is far from being one of the most "fair" stages, especially in Brawl. When a stage can be considered a hard counter via it heavily favoring some characters and being highly detrimental to others, it is clearly not a "fair" stage in terms of matchup balance. Change in description is better. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 02:44, 21 December 2010 (EST)

Pikmin vs. Olimar

Olimar would obviously be nothing without his pikmin, but there's a reason why they were almost extinct before Olimar showed up. Who will win, the guys doing the dirty work or the brains behind it all? --Jelloratbob (talk) 17:59, 23 December 2010 (EST)
