Origin
This move is based on the High Jump ability which was introduced to the Castlevania series in Symphony of the Night. In that game, after Alucard obtains the Gravity Boots, he can perform this maneuver with the inputs ↓, ↑ + [JUMP]. When playing in Richter Mode, Richter can perform this without obtaining the relic, attacking on the way up. It can be performed multiple times in the air. Various characters are capable of utilizing either variation, though it is primarily wielders of the Vampire Killer that use the uppercut. Unlike in Symphony of the Night, Richter cannot perform the Uppercut multiple times, and the height he jumps at is notably shorter.
While Simon generally has not been shown to use this move, he was able to perform it in the short-lived mobile game Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls.[1]
