qwertz143 (also known as qwertz) is a tournament director originally from Phoenix, Arizona, who now lives in Bangalore, India. He is mostly known for founding the Smash Bros. community in India. He plays Smash at a semi-professional level, maining Peach in Melee and Kirby in Ultimate.

qwertz started promoting Smash Bros. in India in 2015, after finding out about its competitive history. He setup friendly Melee setups at bars all over Bangalore and built a small fan-base of curious players who enjoyed the game at a casual level. As Nintendo was never manufactured or directly sold in India, it was difficult to get people interested in the game.

From October 10th-11th 2015, qwertz managed to host a Project M tournament as a side event at Video Game Fest 2015. The community gradually grew bigger after this event, and qwertz started hosting Melee events since January 2017.

From December 21st-23rd 2018, qwertz helped organize DreamHack Mumbai 2018 with the help of Alex Jebailey. This tournament was notably the first major Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament in India, and helped kickstart competitive Ultimate in India. He is currently ranked 7th on the India Power Rankings.
