Brawl

No one seems to want to do so. What about you? Forbidden7MewtwoHeadSSBM.png 12:14, 17 July 2011 (EDT)

Perhaps at some point, though not right now. My FC is on my userpage, and I'll get yours down so I can try playing you at some point. Miles (talk) 12:14, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Alright then. Forbidden7MewtwoHeadSSBM.png 12:16, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Forbidden7 would like me to tell you he would like to Brawl you tomorrow, and that he won't necessarily be on the Wiki when he's ready to do so. (so check Nintendo WFC a bunch) DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 00:20, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
I may be able to do so. Miles (talk) 00:45, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
Keep in mind however, I do Basic Brawl quite often, so if I'm online but not creating a room or joining your game, it's because of that and you'll have to wait. Sorry about that. :( Forbidden7Lucas sprite from MOTHER 3. PK AWESOME! 13:19, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
It appears you have not registered my Brawl Code yet. Forbidden7Lucas sprite from MOTHER 3. PK AWESOME! 17:37, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
I haven't played Brawl in a while, sorry. I will get around to it.
Additionally, if you're looking for people to play, I strongly recommend making an account on All is Brawl. I'm going to be hosting (albeit not playing in) a wifi tourney, if you're interested. Miles (talk) 19:04, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
Alrighty. I look forward to brawling with you! Forbidden7Lucas sprite from MOTHER 3. PK AWESOME! 21:24, 23 July 2011 (EDT)

A question

Since you're a sysop, I thought you would know best: Why exactly did we go from being a Wikia to a Wiki? ReiDemon (talk) 17:51, 24 July 2011 (EDT)

Because Wikia is an evil, corrupt corporation who only care about money and not their wikis. Wikia is the name of the host and this was always a wiki, even on Wikia. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:30, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
A variety of reasons, such as users from outside the Wiki (Wikia staff) having more power in your Wiki than the bureaucrats chosen by the community do, Wikia forcing unwanted changes and features upon its Wikis, and the general corruptness of Wikia. Read Shadowcrest's first post here for some more information. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 18:31, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
Basically, Wikia made it clear they were in charge, not the editors. It was not a form of "leadership" we approved of, and everything but our position in search results is better for having left Wikia. Miles (talk) 18:49, 24 July 2011 (EDT)

Image Reverts

I see you reverted my images. My question is, why? I know their screenshots and I know their to be kept alone, but all they show is black. Besides, Mr.G&A doesn't stand out as a bright color than the other characters. I know screenshots are to provide what images look like ingame, but the images with black background is just showing you a character against blackness. Isn't the same without the black background?

PikminBrawler (talk) 10:39, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

I find the images are far more useful against a black background, if for no other reason than that characters are more frequently seen in Brawl against a black background (Mario Bros., 75m) than a totally white one. Miles (talk) 15:31, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

Not sure if it's a personal attack

But it might be offending anyway: [22:14] <Izkael> because you are a fucked up christian bigot :P [22:15] <Izkael> who needs to probably go die because of your insolence :P [22:15] <Izkael> Then again that's jsut a logical opinion that people like you cant comprehend

Miles isn't a mod on IRC. You'll have to go to Omega Tyrant, Megatron1, or Toomai. Mr. Anon (talk) 23:57, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

This guy is requesting pornographic images for his userpage. Is that acceptable? Mr. Anon (talk) 13:23, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

It is never accetable. That user is a vandal on MarioWiki who was permabanned for sockpuppeting. GoombasShoe15 said so. BlindcoloursEarthboundSymbol.svgYOUR WINNER 13:27, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

Do you want to Brawl? Mr. Anon (talk) 13:18, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

Sure, I can Brawl this afternoon. I'll drop by IRC when I'm available, though it might be a bit. Miles (talk) 14:20, 11 August 2011 (EDT)
Can I have a chance too sometime? :D--PSIWolf (TCE) 14:40, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

I have a video of Mario's moveset in SSB64 recorded. Can you confirm your email with SmashWiki so that I can send you the vid for the SmashWiki youtube account? Mr. Anon (talk) 21:20, 1 September 2011 (EDT)

Don't use the send-to-user thing; just email it to smashwikidian[at]gmail.com. Miles (talk) 22:27, 1 September 2011 (EDT)
Uhm, I was kinda hoping for something a) with audio and b) without a watermark. Miles (talk) 00:57, 2 September 2011 (EDT)
I'm not sure why audio is necessary (though I can do another recording with it tomorrow), and unfortunately I can't do much about the watermark atm. Sorry. Mr. Anon (talk) 01:01, 2 September 2011 (EDT)

Edit undoing

This. It's one of only two ways of playing as Master Hand, and it's listed as a way to play as Giga Bowser and Crazy Hand, so there's precedent for saying you can use an Action Replay. How is that not a valid edit? PenguinofDeath 18:52, 17 October 2011 (EDT)

See my later edit. Miles (talk) 21:35, 17 October 2011 (EDT)
I don't see the justification. – Emmett 09:30, 18 October 2011 (EDT)
All of the game's unplayable characters are logically playable by hacking; that should be obvious. Miles (talk) 16:32, 19 October 2011 (EDT)
No, it isn't. As I noted in the edit summary, "unplayable" does not mean "unplayable except for hacking"-- it means unplayable. – Emmett 17:11, 19 October 2011 (EDT)
If consensus disagrees with me, then we'll go with that. My opinion on the matter stands, however. Miles (talk) 17:24, 19 October 2011 (EDT)

Hello

Please stop making moving images under headers. There's an open discussion on it right now-- did it not occur to you that you're potentially just creating more work for people to revert later? When people have plainly called you out on it, any reasonable user-- particularly a sysop, whose judgment is supposed to be good-- would stop doing it. So stop. – Emmett 15:51, 25 October 2011 (EDT)

To be clear, what ToastUltimatum and PoD are describing is specific to a certain set of pages. Right now, the status quo across the wiki is quite clearly that images go underneath their headers. 1 2 3 4 5 are examples on many different types of pages of this being the current expected setup. Miles (talk) 16:49, 25 October 2011 (EDT)
This doesn't solely apply to the music infobox. For example, Blaster has nothing to do with the music pages. One thing of note is that all the examples you just gave have paragraphs larger than the images beside them. In an instance that the paragraph is bigger than the image next to it, sure, the image can go under the header. But when the image is bigger than the paragraph beside it (i.e. Blaster's Throws sub-section), it is more balanced to put the image above the header, so there's less empty space. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumA transparent image of Swadloon for my sig.Complaints Box 18:35, 25 October 2011 (EDT)
(edit conflict) Actually, they're arguing that the standard is not "images go below headers" as you claim, but that what should be done is what looks best on the page (and especially not what looks better in code). All of those examples fit the principle of looking better, not necessarily being below headers. Don't confuse the two. – Emmett 18:39, 25 October 2011 (EDT)
I'd argue that in a situation of having insufficient room for an image between headers, it should be shrunk or moved to a gallery rather than placed above a header. Miles (talk) 21:26, 25 October 2011 (EDT)

Those article don't have much notability. ..... Happy New Year GanondorfHeadSSBB.png 22:47, 29 December 2011 (EST)
The articles in question had several problems, but the main one is, as Mr. Ellipsis pointed out, low notability. This is combined with the fact that the only means of accessing the sites in question today is by web archive, which does not allow them to be fully documented in the same way as Smabura-Ken.
