Your Edit to Smash Arena Round 232[edit]

Hi! Thanks for all the useful contributions you have been making, It's really appreciated. However, when you edited the Smash Arena just now, you removed a line of code, causing the page to... well, break. I've sorted it out for now, but please be more careful in the future. Again, thanks for all your contributions. ScoreCounter 07:22, 16 December 2014 (EST)

Shoot, okay I'll be on the lookout for that kind of thing.--Dinodomain (talk) 14:17, 16 December 2014 (EST)

FYI, Smash itself uses the term "remix" for new arrangements of tracks, so it's not a term you should go out of your way to change. Miles (talk) 18:39, 23 February 2015 (EST)

Maybe it there is a should be noted in the article that term is sometimes used incorrectly by Nintendo? (Where in the game/games does it say this, remind me?) That being said a number of the tracks are remixes in earnest.--Dinodomain (talk) 04:09, 25 February 2015 (EST)

When creating a page...[edit]

...try putting some effort into it. A page you recently created has nothing but an intro sentence and a link, well below the minimum for our standards. You can look at related pages and their code to see how it's done. Berrenta (talk) 21:59, 7 April 2015 (EDT)

Sorry about that, I had to leave my computer for a bit, I'll get some more up in a sec.--Dinodomain (talk) 22:01, 7 April 2015 (EDT)

Wait up man[edit]

A lot of your edits are worded weirdly, are factually incorrect, or are flat out unnecessary. Please check your edits over for quality every time. Thanks Serpent King (talk) 16:12, 2 August 2015 (EDT)

KK I'll be sure to do that.--Dinodomain (talk) 18:50, 2 August 2015 (EDT)

Don't you think you're making too many categories? Do we really need categories like ""2013/2014 SSBMRank players"? Seems a bit unnecessary to me. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 17:22, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

Category:American tournaments is getting a bit bloated and it's useful to have subcategories for exactly where particular tournaments are (the USA is a pretty big place, no?) As for having SSBMRank categories its important because these are the 100 best players of a particular year, likewise a top-25 distinction is used to further idenify the best of the best.--Dinodomain (talk) 18:00, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

A little comment from the peanut gallery: California is really the only state that needs split into multiple categories. And just North and South will do there. Serpent King (talk) 15:45, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

It seems like there's a number of other below-state level power rankings, and Central Cali is one of them.--Dinodomain (talk) 19:12, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
I suppose CenCal would be ok, but not Pennsylvanian. Also, when dealing with categories, you want to create only categories that will not end up having all of the same articles as an existing one. In the end Category:Supermajors is going to have the same articles as Category:National tournaments. Serpent King (talk) 19:19, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
I've always heard of Pennsylvania being divided into at least two distinct cultural zones, since it's divided by mountains along the middle. Along these lines there's never been a Pennsylvania state power ranking ever created. As for the Super Majors, I suppose there not a formal definition at this point but it's generally though that there' only been about 4 or so a year, compared to say the 10+ nationals that happened last year.--Dinodomain (talk) 19:24, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

EVO Circuit 2007[edit]

Put those back on the EVO 2007 page. There's no need to creat four news pages if it's just to place results and dates. Expand on each EVO circuit section first and if there's enough content, move to a standalone page. PFFP (talk) 22:50, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

They were separate tournaments, why shouldn't they have their own pages. Anyways I'll see if I can dig up more information online about the tourneys, if no I guess they can go back to the EVO World page.--Dinodomain (talk) 22:54, 5 August 2015 (EDT)
They were actually already existing tournaments that gave up their names on that year to host a EVO Circuit tournament. I don't know all the names, but that's what I got from digging up the SRK forums. There seems to be almost nothing else to say about those tournaments except their results, and since they're part of the EVO 2007 circuit, I don't see why they can't be listed as subsections of that page.PFFP (talk) 22:58, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

Use talk pages[edit]

If you're planning a sweeping change that involves more than a few pages, it is almost always advisable to seek consensus on a related talk page before beginning your work. I appreciate your desire to improve pages and implement new categories and the like, but things like broad changes of formatting and categorization should be checked with others first. Miles (talk) 23:20, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

Do you agree with some of the categories I've been creating, let's start with that. Tbh I'm not sure exactly where to ask, other than just directly messaging people who are active.--Dinodomain (talk) 19:11, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
This is fine. When in doubt go with the place you are being called out on. Serpent King (talk) 19:13, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
As far as my personal opinion goes, I'm not sure we need to distinguish more than by region. That's the kind of thing that you'd want to discuss before implementing, is what I'm getting at. Miles (talk) 19:21, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
I agree with Miles. IMO the term "major" and "super major" is arbitrary. By what standards someone categorizes a tournament? Important attendance or cheer number of entrants? WTFox is being called a Super Major despite the low entrance numbers, due to many top players being there, but no one disagrees that EVO, Apex and CEO are today some of the most important tournaments in any Smash player radar. If anything, the Largest Smash Tournaments page already gives a hint to what are the mega event series for the scene.PFFP (talk) 20:16, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

Using Show Preview[edit]

Hello, Dinodomain, I see that you have made several consecutive edits to the same page. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep Recent Changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks, RickTommy 05:39, 13 August 2015 (EDT)

I feel like it's safer to make multiple small edits because I'm on mobile a lot and I also have bad internet that I have to share with others.--Dinodomain (talk) 19:58, 13 August 2015 (EDT)

Holy crap dude, keep up the good work[edit]

You're one of the best new editors I've seen lately. Keep up the good work man. You've done such a huge amount. F0rZ3r0F0r (talk) 19:47, 28 August 2015 (EDT)

Thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately I'm going to be busier in a few weeks so my level of activity will go a down a lot. In the mean time I'll get done what I can.--Dinodomain (talk) 20:52, 28 August 2015 (EDT)

Regarding Category:Ontario smashers[edit]

Smasher categories are not for power rankings. Just so you know. SerpentKing (talk) 16:16, 30 August 2015 (EDT)

It's a list of prominent smashers in the region, so I figured it would be convenient to post it at the top of the category.--Dinodomain (talk) 16:18, 30 August 2015 (EDT)
But that's just not how it works. Sorry :P SerpentKing (talk) 16:19, 30 August 2015 (EDT)
There needs to be context given for who the top players are in a region. Any suggestions?--Dinodomain (talk) 16:30, 30 August 2015 (EDT)
That's what the PR articles are for. SerpentKing (talk) 16:36, 30 August 2015 (EDT)
Also, the SmashWiki isn't generally used for finding these top players, just their information. Most of those things are common knowledge or in small regions such as Minnesota, can literally be found from the page through some looking, or the PR as mentioned above. F0rZ3r0F0r (talk) 16:42, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
What exactly do you mean by "finding these top players"? I mean it's more convenient to have, within those category a list of the top players to distinguish them from everyone else, particularly in very active regions.--Dinodomain (talk) 18:01, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
But still this isn't how we do things. PRs don't belong in Smasher categories because they are not smashers. SerpentKing (talk) 18:05, 1 September 2015 (EDT)

I have noticed that you have done a lot of major revisions/page creations/moves without using talk pages. This wiki is based on consensus: edits such as article/category creation, mainspace/smasherspace moves, and similar edits to many pages should all be discussed on the appropriate talk page first. I realize that I have been undoing a lot of your work, and I want it to be clear: I have no vendetta against you, but you do a lot of things without seeking a consensus. Please try for this in the future. SerpentKing (talk) 21:03, 5 September 2015 (EDT)

Okay I'll be sure to take your advice. In the mean time, are there any particular series of edits that you want to discuss?--Dinodomain (talk) 20:36, 6 September 2015 (EDT)
At the moment, no SerpentKing (talk) 21:10, 6 September 2015 (EDT)

Whenever you move a page...[edit]

Always check the "What links here" page on the original page for redirects. Point them to the new page. SerpentKing (talk) 03:07, 21 September 2015 (EDT)

Bump, just to make sure you understand this. SerpentKing (talk) 04:21, 21 September 2015 (EDT)
Ya I heard you there, Serpent. Just haven't gone about changing the RDs yet.--Dinodomain (talk) 04:22, 21 September 2015 (EDT)
Oh I did it, I was just letting you know for future reference. SerpentKing (talk) 04:28, 21 September 2015 (EDT)

Wait stop.[edit]

That category should be called Professionals (SSBM). SerpentKing (talk) 01:22, 22 September 2015 (EDT)

I'm going to change them to Category:Professionals (SSBM) for now, but hold onto that because thought later I'm going to propose that every "professionals" category be changed to "players".--Dinodomain (talk) 01:25, 22 September 2015 (EDT)
Why? It works as is. SerpentKing (talk) 01:29, 22 September 2015 (EDT)
Also, while we are on the subject, typically when creating categories, you write a short description on what the category should contain, like I did for Category:Professionals (SSBM) SerpentKing (talk) 01:34, 22 September 2015 (EDT)
The word "player" is just way more concise than "professionals". Also, there a naming inconsistency where some of the categories are called "x smashers" and others called "x professionals", when the they both contain the same pages.--Dinodomain (talk) 01:59, 22 September 2015 (EDT)
@Serpernt_King Another thing is that Japanese players can't really be considered any sense of the term because they make virtually no money playing the game.--Dinodomain (talk) 16:25, 23 September 2015 (EDT)

Category talk:Charizard (PM) Miles (talk) 16:38, 23 September 2015 (EDT)

Please actually read what I'm saying to you. I'm sorry for using an insistent tone, but it's frustrating that you seem to be ignoring me and potentially increasing the amount of cleanup I or someone else will have to do after the fact. Miles (talk) 18:38, 23 September 2015 (EDT)
Please clear out your edits as you said; I'll be deleting the categories once you do so. Miles (talk) 00:43, 25 September 2015 (EDT)
Okay I think its done now, delete away.--Dinodomain (talk) 01:22, 25 September 2015 (EDT)

If you're gonna upload an image...[edit] least take out the unnecessary stuff. Changing the head icon used. No biggie.Aidan, Master of Speed and AuraPer Request, for User:Aidanzapunk. 10:48, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

Eh sorry about that, been a bit busy recently.--Dinodomain (talk) 20:11, 15 October 2015 (EDT)

2015 SSBMRank[edit]

Thank you very much for the help!! We may not be no eXemplary Logic, but we can do it!! :]

If you can, you can add most of the missing rankings, I can get the missing info like missing images for every smasher :v --My signature's image :v The 70's called. They said BeepYou was here :v 16:04, 7 January 2016 (EST)

...ummmmm...bump? --My signature's image :v The 70's called. They said BeepYou was here :v 16:35, 7 January 2016 (EST)
Lol I saw your message but I was going to wait after I finished added the into to respond. But yeah sure, if you can get pictures that would be nice. That being said though, you may want to get permission from MIOM if you're planning on using their pictures or whatever.--Dinodomain (talk) 16:38, 7 January 2016 (EST)
It's not the full image with rankings and everything, so I guess they won't mind. We're a large community after all. Also, the images are not for every smasher on the list, only for those who are missing them. --My signature's image :v The 70's called. They said BeepYou was here :v 16:43, 7 January 2016 (EST)

Pretty sad you had to stop adding the ranks, but hey! With your help I finished earlier than I thought I would do! Thank you very much man! I think I owe you one! ^_^ --My signature's image :v The 70's called. They said BeepYou was here :v 02:41, 8 January 2016 (EST)

Lol I had some tasks I had to do and I got a bit bored tbh. Anyhow thanks for finishing up.--Dinodomain (talk) 19:18, 10 January 2016 (EST)

Why did you crate a redirect to a non-existing page?[edit]

Penro ...that's all. PenroDarkPitHead.png PenroZSSHead.png 19:39, 12 February 2016 (EST)

Did I? Woops my bad.--Dinodomain (talk) 20:03, 22 February 2016 (EST)

Slow down. All of your edits are getting reverted. Before making more, I suggest looking into why that is. Thanks. Serpent SKSig.png King 02:02, 14 November 2016 (EST)

Okay. It seems like smash wiki doesn't have have automatic notification of an edit revert like wikipedia does. That would probably be something nice to add.--Dinodomain (talk) 02:19, 14 November 2016 (EST)

Additionally, this edit was plagiarism. You did not put quotes around what you lifted from the Reddit comment, and only attributed part of the source to what you copied. Not knowing how to paraphrase interesting information you find on another website is not an excuse. -- Yellow sig.png Yellow of the Grove 02:22, 14 November 2016 (EST)
