Hey there! I'm some dragon guy that used to be a long-time contributor to this wiki, and have figured out a lot of other things about my life since. You can call me DrakRoar or just Drak. My activity in the wiki may be sporadic, as I no longer have that much time to dedicate to it, nor intend to currently, but you can always find me in the Discord server.

About me

I have a fair bunch of personal interests and hobbies, mainly related to retro gaming and programming, including:

• Reverse engineering and homebrew of retro consoles, especially the NES and Game Boy, but also others such as SNES, Master System, Sega Genesis, GBA, and DS. I have coded a few simple demos for each, and intend to expand this into proper games eventually.
• General tech topics (e.g. programming languages, web dev, file formats, hardware). I also have a college degree in computer science, I guess? It was a tortuous 7 years, but at least I can say it's done.
• Drawing pixel art, mainly in retro styles like NES and GBC, and rarely traditional stuff when I need finer detail. You can find my work in my social links below!
• Designing my own OCs, many of them as part of personal work I intend to show more of in the future. I love commissioning artists to draw them whenever I can. In case you were wondering, yes, I'm a furry, and the dragon in my profile is my sona. (Art is by Falopaxy)
• I also like listening primarily to rock and metal music, and traveling around whenever I get the chance.

(I'll also just say: I have no interest in any AI-generated or "assisted" productions, and will never adopt it for any of my creative or personal work. Support real artists and hobbyists.)

Just taking an optimistic stroll in town.

As for gaming, I'm heavily invested in retro games and consoles, primarily between the 80s and 2000s, and still find them much more appealing than many modern games, between overhyped and overpriced "cinematic" experiences, and live services that just feel like they want to suck out as much of your time and money as possible. I own a good collection of retro consoles (including every major Nintendo system except the Virtual Boy), with a few original games for each, as well as flashcarts or mods that let me play almost any game on them. I'm a big fan of platformers, especially the Mega Man and Castlevania series, and similar offshoots (Contra, classic Ninja Gaiden, Shovel Knight, and Cuphead, to name a few), which heavily influenced my interest in retro games, and my taste in "NES Hard" difficult but pretty addictive and replayable games.

I'm fairly hardcore when it comes to my favorite games, and enjoy completing as many of them as I can in RetroAchievements; a site that does what the name says for retro games, but with a much cooler tracking system, better balance between challenges of different levels compared to official achievements, and constantly improved over time by a dedicated community. I have mastered every official Smash game currently available there, though I do not intend to take on the Very Hard Runs subsets (too much of a grind that I just don't find fun).

I've also started editing TCRF and Data Crystal more often to document more details about retro games.
