Mining Material Order[edit]

I previously listed the material order, but saw that I haven't included a bunch of them. So instead, here is a link to a much more organized list, compiled by Meshima: https://pastebin.com/S3jB7Hkf Thecontributor22 (talk) 11:48, October 19, 2020 (EDT)

is this going to be included? This would be very helpful 8.40.206.72 20:29, October 26, 2020 (EDT)

Terrain[edit]

Would it be appropriate to make a table of which material Mine considers each Terrain to be? --Jumbods64 (talk) 13:46, October 14, 2020 (EDT)

Do you mean specific parts of a stage, too (like for stages with multiple transitions, like Pokemon Stadium)? Thecontributor22 (talk) 16:01, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
Specific parts. For example, Mementos is mostly stone, including the platforms. The red and black barriers that appear to block the blast zones off temporarily mostly yield dirt. Another good question is whether or not this info is placed on this page or on each stage page. Blackbrass (talk) 01:44, October 17, 2020 (EDT)
I don't know if somebody already did the same, but I actually went to the different stages and tested it. I'm currently converting it into a table format so it will be easier to view. I will show it in the discussion tab when I am finished.Thecontributor22 (talk) 12:24, October 17, 2020 (EDT)

This is all the data I compiled from the different stages and surfaces. Apologies if it looks a little off. Thecontributor22 (talk) 19:06, October 17, 2020 (EDT)

Intense. You even got the player-made deployables, and on different stages. Maybe make the whole thing a template, so it's easier to place somewhere else? Blackbrass (talk) 08:03, October 18, 2020 (EDT)
I made some edits to the table. Instead of putting down Dirt/Sand/Ice/Wool, I put down "Class 1". When Sakurai was demonstrating Steve, he said the weakest materials would be called Class 1 materials, so I thought that it would be more appropriate. Plus, when the table is moved to a page (not sure if it should be on its own page, or one of the other ones), it can be stated that the Class 1 materials differ by stage.

I posted on this page that Meshima did some in-depth testing of mining resource order and included the link. Also, I am not aware of how to turn the table above into a template.

One last thing: I won't be able to do this myself because I have an emergency that will take me a few days to resolve. If someone could take over, then I would really appreciate it. Thecontributor22 (talk) 16:47, October 19, 2020 (EDT)

I attempted to put this on the page, but couldn't. I changed all instances of "Class 1" materials to their actual appearance, as even though it is only aesthetic, it is still notable. 72.219.72.215 18:01, October 19, 2020 (EDT)
What exactly was the issue in integrating the table? Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 19:13, October 19, 2020 (EDT)
I copied the table from this talk page to the main page, and I ended up with an error message saying "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again at a later date." 72.219.72.215 13:56, October 20, 2020 (EDT)
I think that's why someone suggested to turn it into a template; I can take care of that for you. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 14:50, October 20, 2020 (EDT)

Translations[edit]

The word "生成" can be translated as "create" in many contexts:

生成 on jisho

生成 on goo

Japanese has a different word order than English that needs to be translated, which would make "ブロック生成", "Create Block".

The Japanese words are all in the same form, nouns that can be made into verbs (and sometimes used as if they were) using "-する", so I've changed the English to all be consistant. For example "mine" and "craft", and "mining" and "crafting".

But this brings another problem on this wiki, the translations and how they're done is inconsistent.

On pages like this one, Marth_(SSBU), Peach Parasol, Ness_(SSBU) and probably a billion others there are translations where they're the exact same and probably unnecessary.

On some pages like Gale Stab and some others, no translation is given as it's the exact same.

On some like Wonderwing, Plasma Scream and some others, there are "Names in other languages" boxes.

On some pages like Diddy Kong and some others, there is a translation after his name and a "Names in other languages" box.

And some pages like Super_Smash_Bros._4 and some others, there is no translation at all.

Maybe we should make it so there are only "And on some like Wonderwing, Plasma Scream and some others, there are "Names in other languages" boxes like the Mario Wiki so we can put more detail and maybe an explanation behind the translations and translations for other languages.

An example where a "Names in other languages" box's explanation is better than a translation line would be Mario Wiki Piranha Plant and Smash Wiki Piranha Plant ChokalZeime (talk) 01:39, October 16, 2020 (EDT)

The wiki is already inconsistent with its integration of the tables. It's my understanding that the tables are to be used wiki-wide, but there are plenty of pages that don't use them (because they haven't been implemented). I was never the biggest fan of the table, though I find it to be a force of habit to have the Japanese next to the English (rather than a direct rebellion), and as the one who made this page, I can only apologize for that.
More to the point, however, while it isn't the most reliable source, 生成 was translated by Google Translate as "generate", which, while a bit lengthy, still conveys the same meaning that "Create Block" does, if you ask me. Though I absolutely do not speak Japanese, so I can't exactly say much on this. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 19:13, October 19, 2020 (EDT)
