SmashArena.png

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comment section. However, you are not to post argumentative, accusative, or any sort of comment with the intention of starting an argument with someone on the opposing side. The Smash Arena is a popularity contest, there's no need to argue with the other side on why your choice is superior, or why they are wrong with their reasoning for picking their choice. You are also not to post comments that are just pointing out or complaining how close/one-sided a matchup is. These sorts of comments are worthless, and do nothing but make an already large page larger.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it).
  10. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.

If your vote is not added correctly - that is, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have one hour to fix it. After this time, it may be moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion. In addition, if your votes-to-rulebreaks ratio climbs too high, your votes may count for zero until the ratio drops to an acceptable level.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

Round 108: Samus vs. Snake

Winner!!
undecided

0 to 0
Each possessing some of the largest human-portable armouries of the Smashers, these two can combat enemy forces at all ranges. Will the stealthy assassin or the tank with legs win this battle?

Votes for Samus

Votes for Snake

  1. My favorite character to play in Brawl, against my least... Very easy decision here. Plus, Snake can actually kill :p Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 19:34, 14 October 2011 (EDT)
  2. If you get a game over in Metroid, you explode. In Metal Gear Solid, you cause a time paradox. Hardly a fair contest. ReiDemon 19:44, 14 October 2011 (EDT)
  3. *hides in a box* It's showtime. BlindColours ...PUNCH!!! 19:52, 14 October 2011 (EDT)
  4. samus causes plenty of damage, snake causes plenty and smashes hard. he just seems to have a better game strategy. 71.55.150.231 19:58, 14 October 2011 (EDT)BK

Round 107: All-Star Rest Area (SSBM) vs. All-Star Rest Area (SSBB)

Winner!!
All-Star Rest Area (SSBB)

9 to 23
These two relaxing vistas have similar names and purposes, but with completely different appearences. Will the courtyard or the cave come out on top?

Votes for All-Star Rest Area (SSBM)

  1. I enjoy the Melee area's scenery more. Plus, I find it an unnecessary hassle to have placed the heart containers past the warp area. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 19:23, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  2. Melee doesn't get enough credit when it comes to, well, really anything besides competitive play. --174.59.4.202 21:04, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  3. has a happier, more welcoming feel. (made this vote from a 3ds!)pokémonultimate the toon link master (talk) 00:18, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  4. The music. I remember when I use to play Kirby Superstar a lot. 66.222.173.139 11:52, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  5. To me, the music and background are more relaxing and I can just sit there for a few minutes and chill.-Ivy73002MS.png 14:33, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  6. I hate jumping over the warp space in Brawl. Plus this place looks more peaceful, and rest-friendly. James<3 (talk) 17:08, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  7. The music makes life's problems go away. 'Cause I play only the easy modes, I don't need a Heart Container unless I've got to. 98.242.123.228 23:23, 9 October 2011 (EDT)
  8. Getting past nine bosses on Intense, mistiming your jump and warping to the Tabuu fight instead of grabbing a heart container is the exact opposite of fun, and far too easy to do. PenguinofDeath 08:30, 10 October 2011 (EDT)
  9. This one has a bench. The other ones a cave... Not even a contest...--Akirra' says: Meow! =^_^= 16:40, 11 October 2011 (EDT)
  10. The inconvenience of going past the warp zone to get hearts was one of the many flaws that ruined Brawl for me. --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 19:30, 14 October 2011 (EDT)

Votes for All-Star Rest Area (SSBB)

  1. BlindColours ...PUNCH!!! 19:16, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  2. Come on, game, I need to fight Rayquaza or Duon NOW, or they'll be impossible later! >Sees Ridley's headshot in background< GODDAMMIT! Anyways, if you were to 'rest' in one of these areas, you'd fall asleep quicker here. ToastUltimatum A transparent image of Swadloon for my sig.Complaints Box 19:19, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  3. This place has so much atmosphere. It first looks like an eerie, perhaps creepy place. But at the same time, it gives you the feeling of safety, safe from the troubles of All Star/Boss Battles mode. It truly feels like a "rest" area, and thus I prefer this more. 6. It makes me feel more protected from the harms of the opposing characters and it doesn't feel like sun is beating down on my back in the middle of a field. Squishyfrog Chat 20:56, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  7. The teleporting platform is moar epic, and the light in the middle is kewl -[-=-]-Lucas-IV- An Enderman! Sh-SMACK! Lucas alive.PNG 21:30, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  8. The All-Star Rest Area in Melee is kind of bland compared to the one in Brawl. 110.174.90.69 21:39, 7 October 2011 (EDT)
  9. Well, this is really... I'll just vote for Brawl's, because there's more..."atmosphere". Hawk 21 (talk) 00:46, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  10. An underground cavern with light pouring in through the top just seems more epic than a small portion of Central Park. - Toa 95 (talk) 00:48, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  11. I played Brawl. 68.174.11.29 18:02, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  12. What's the difference? ..... 1999-2011 FalcoHeadSSBB.png well? 18:23, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  13. It feels more...mystic. 25T16File:HitboxEffect(Flame).pngIt’s a me! 18:47, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  14. This arena is all some. Because its music and challenges in it unlike melee they random the characters. Smash x 5432 (talk) 21:11, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
  15. this is better Cw11cw 07:47, 9 October 2011 (EDT)
  16. it does get pretty annoying cause sometimes when your trying to jump over the warp point to regain some health you land in it.. CMON, I DONT WANNA FIGHT TABUU WITH 175 DAMAGE!! but this is just way more peaceful. i actually did fall asleep playing here.. i was home sick, but that counts, right?? ;) 184.1.226.170 09:19, 9 October 2011 (EDT)BK
  17. I've only played Brawl. 24.12.190.59 16:22, 9 October 2011 (EDT)
  18. A cave is cooler (and shadier. and more mystical). I can look past the flaw of heart containers being past the warp.184.97.232.150 18:08, 9 October 2011 (EDT)
  19. The problem with melee is that if you pick up a heart container and then run into the warp while your health is recovering, you don't get fully healed. This problem doesn't happen with brawl. 202.173.132.19 22:22, 9 October 2011 (EDT)
  20. Cherrim98Cherrim Box Sprite.pngTalk 08:05, 10 October 2011 (EDT)
  21. The music is better DokteurPain99 20:05, 10 October 2011 (EDT)
  22. Both are good and have great music, however I prefer Brawl's All-Star Area's flora, so I'm voting for this area. --217.44.240.142 02:37, 11 October 2011 (EDT)
  23. Looks more eerie and dramatic, which adds to the atmosphere of trying to beat Boss Battles on Intense. (falls in teleporter at 150% with Galleom) DANG IT! (snaps remote) Takava (talk) 13:40, 13 October 2011 (EDT)

Comments

I think the Heart Containers are better in their Brawl position. In Melee, you could use one by accident, because it's right in front of you. Ideally, though, the best position for the Heart Containers would be behind your spawn point. ToastUltimatum A transparent image of Swadloon for my sig.Complaints Box 08:08, 10 October 2011 (EDT)

How on earth would someone manage to accidentally land on the spawn platform? That's NEVER happened to me. I've never even considered it could happen to anyone. Two jumps, plus a recovery move, is it really that hard to move the equivalent of 5 feet? Come on now. 25T16File:HitboxEffect(Flame).pngIt’s a me! 13:54, 13 October 2011 (EDT)

Read rule #7, such a comment is not acceptable here. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:58, 13 October 2011 (EDT)
