BS 3DS Leak
http://ssb4dojo.com/post/95233999086/rumor-mill-4chan-20 (Look through the comments for the 4chan link with more pics, since 4chan is blacklisted here, I can't link to them) Should this be added here? It's pretty fake looking, but it's pretty widespread right now. (Heck, Toomai upped the wiki level for it) For those who aren't aware, it's fake due to the names aren't listed under the characters which, as we've seen, is present in the 3DS version, in addition Bowser Jr.'s and Dr.Mario's artworks seem to be photoshopped versions of other artwork. There are other, more subtle nitpicky things, but I won't waste time listing them here. Laikue (talk) 01:21, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- This doesn't look like a very credible leak. You chose the right title. The order sucks, it's ordered by universe except there's a Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina are on the other side of their place. Ness' pic is the same one from his debunked leak. This wasn't thought through very well. Qwerty (talk) 01:39, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Don't forget Shulk's face being a shop of Little Mac's. The most telling thing to me, though is that one of the screenshots (not on Laikue's link but that I've seen with these on other sites) shows the player's tag as "ESRB______" something or another, implying it's an ESRB reviewer. Which is quick proof it's fake since they review video footage, not copies of the game itself. Miles (talk) 01:52, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Let's not forget the Duck Hunt Dog, probably the most random pick of all the unannounced characters. I'm not sure how the Duck Hunt Dog can work as a fighter.
- Anyways, was looking at the comments. One comment mentioned what could further harm the credibility: how the leaker handled criticism about his post about DLC. Let's just say he refused to accept those criticisms and responded to them in a profane manner... Berrenta (talk) 08:20, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Credible or not, it's gaining speed very quickly, and deserves a place on this article. Toast ltimatum 10:42, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- It was posted 15 hours ago, and yeah it's pretty much debunked. I don't see how it could be notable. Qwerty (talk) 12:08, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Each rendered character artwork is unique. The leaker showed more than just the character selection screen; he showed other images as well. Shulk is not the same render as Little Mac. And all of this information complies with the information from the Ninka/Vaanrose Leak. The image of Bowser Jr. is an orgiinal render, with a unique angle of his face and the fact that he is in the Koopa Clown Cart. Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina are all together because they all came into being through the same method: they started out as alternate skins, but Sakurai decided to do more original things with their models. There has never been a render of the Dukc Hunt Dog quite like the one they've shown. To be honest, very little has come as concrete evidence that this is false.--Nintendo101 (talk) 14:48, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Would Sakurai separate Lucina, Dark Pit, and Dr. Mario from the other representatives of their respective franchises, like the leaker did? Sakurai has never done that, and I don't think he will. It's basically common sense in play. Another thing that debunks the leak is how the stage select is shown. It has the past stages mixed in with the new ones, which makes it look like a mess. In Melee and Brawl, past stages have their own separate area, and Smash 4 will certainly follow that trend. You might want to look at the image more closely. Berrenta (talk) 15:13, 20 August 2014 (EDT)

- I would like to also note that using "unique" images for characters is not a new concept for hoaxers. Plus, due to the blurriness of the image, the hoaxer can cut corners in making renders of characters.
- --- Monsieur Crow, Author Extraordinaire, 17:36, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- Ness's "artwork" for Smash 4 is also unique, so the "unique images" part is somewhat believable. Other details would need to be be noted, which has been discussed earlier by many of us, to debunk the rumors. As for this leak's notability, I'm uncertain at the moment. Berrenta (talk) 17:54, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
Look, can't we all just agree that it's so fake that it shouldn't be mentioned on this page? Aidan the Average Gamer (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
- I feel it's fake as well. The disorganization that I pointed out earlier is one thing. Another thing that can render this as fake that I wasn't aware of until Gamexplain pointed it out was that there was something off on Wario's model, most specifically his left eye. I doubt the developers would overlook that. As for not mentioning it due to being fake, there are some rumors that are still on this page that are obvious fakes, yet they were widespread, so they are still listed. Berrenta (talk) 21:49, 20 August 2014 (EDT)
I've heard that the Duck Hunt Dog's render was found somewhere else. And I've also noticed how the character portraits background has no fire in it. Cherrim98Talk 01:28, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- I think it deserves a spot. It's been covered on multiple sites, and the sides in favor of it being real, like how the UI totally matches that of the E3 demo, or the fact that Jr., the Dog, and Doc's art can't be traced back to any source despite all the claims of "photoshop", or that the screens include a visual glitch that was present in the E3 demo but no one noticed until after the leak, or even how the Tomodachi stage preview in the stage select features an apartment not seen in any media until the Famitsu scans that came out AFTER the pics started circulating. They've also made a lot of arguments explaining as much, as well as counterarguments to those pointing out inconsistencies, such as how Wario's pupil is obscured by his nose, how the names could be removed after a certain point to save space on the CSS, or how this very well could be from the ESRB since there's no gap between the screens, implying this comes from video footage and not a physical copy.)
- Furthermore, the claim that "this is how it's always been done in other games" isn't exactly evidence to the counter. Those are separate titles, and nothing IN EXISTING SMASH 4 MEDIA has given any indication that stages will be separated. It's like how, had Sakurai not revealed the removal of transformations back in April, you'd be arguing that it's fake because Sheik and ZSS have their own slots despite not having them in the other games. And it's fake because you "don't know how they could make a character work"? REALLY? This is a series that made movesets for Fox, Captain Falcon, Ice Climbers, and R.O.B. when they had NOTHING to work with. That's not an excuse.
- Regardless, it's circulated a LOT over the last few days, and despite all the debate, there is still no definitive proof of whether it is true or false. Definitely needs to at least be listed. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:25, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- It should be mentioned on the Wiki, but not to the extent that it's being talked about on the current list of rumors. It's ridiculously lengthy at the moment, but if it can be expanded on even more than it already is, a page for it could just be made to list all of those details. MegaTron1XD 12:23, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
- Oh, I agree that it's ridiculously lengthy as is, but that's the problem: There's so much conflicting information, evidence on both sides of the debate, and general detail to the leak itself that there's really not much room to trim. It's not like the other rumors where it's just one character or a text list, where you can just list the bare bones content of the leak followed by the way in which it was debunked; this is still ongoing with new observations and developments happening on a pretty regular basis. Unless you give it its own page, dump all the known information there, and replace the text on this one with the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM, there's not much we can do in terms of compressing it down. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 01:24, 25 August 2014 (EDT)

video
I found a video supposedly showing the 3DS version team victory screen with Shulk in red team (it also shows Ganondorf in blue team) for a split second then directly skips to Home-Run contest with Yoshi. I highly doubt it's real (hint: ESRB0083), but anyway: [1] --93.41.167.171 10:41, 25 August 2014 (EDT)

As much as I personally don't want to believe in leaks, there's too much gameplay video here to be faked, and it satisfies the first bullet point in SW:NEWGAME. However, I think we should strictly limit what we discuss to what is seen in the video, despite it matching the screenshots leaked as well. This would mean making the following pages: Bowser Jr., Bowser Jr. (SSB4), Shulk, Shulk (SSB4), Xenoblade (universe). (Xenoblade not Xeno since the video shows Shulk's icon is the Monado, not an X as widely theorized.) Miles (talk) 13:59, 25 August 2014 (EDT)

New rumour to add in the list
Another rumour is about "Ice Climbers cut in SSB4 by Sakurai", can you add it in the page?
109.213.69.237 12:49, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
On the 2 out of 3 rumor.
In hindsight, this rumor likely wouldn't have stayed on the page in the past, as it did not spread beyond AllisBrawl and it had relatively little discussion about it in the first place. Any objections?
I'm also a bit on the fence about the Super Smash Bros. Memories rumor, but I'll focus on that at a later time.

Tower of Smash "leaks"?
Does the Tower of Smash "leaks" deserve to be here? Some of it sounds too detailed to be made up, but it lacks any kinds of images or videos for proof, so it's probably just another 4chan troll. --Meyguhmein - talk - *FURIOUSLY FANBOYS OVER MEGAMAN* 09:06, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

Some things sound like they would happen in the game, such as the Tower of Smash mode replacing Events. But 4 out of the 5 more newcomers are all fan-favorites , with Ridley "not having wings" on the ground (like what, how does that make sense?), and Smashville as a returning stage along with the similar Town and City one. I kinda doubt, but it's interesting to read. --Meyguhmein - talk - *FURIOUSLY FANBOYS OVER MEGAMAN* 00:33, 24 September 2014 (EDT)
OK, so this and the Smash World leak have both gotten a TON of attention and each one has only been getting more true. This is not to say that they are true, but it does mean they should be mentioned on this page. Laikue (talk|contribs) 18:36, 16 October 2014 (EDT)

Amazon leak
I think it's hardly a rumor. It has no proof so it's not an official leak, sure, but it's not a rumor. It came from a semi-official source, and doesn't match the other rumors at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutta Butta (talk • contribs) 18:53, 17 October 2014 (EDT)

Agnès Rumor
While looking around the internet, a user here by the name of NessLUMA discovered images from a Chinese website (link in my talk page) that suggests that Agnès from Bravely Default, I believe (I don't play the game, so I wouldn't know), is in Smash Wii U. True, but this is like saying "Mega Man, Ridley, Isaac, Chorus Men, Dixie Kong, Fils-a-Mech, Home Depot are in, and Mewtwo and Roy are returning!" There are just too many high demand characters to be convincing; it sounds like someone trying to get a fake leak spread around by including big names.

Patches Rumor
Would it be acceptable to put on here that people think/thought the patches bring/brought buffs/nerfs, but were proven wrong by Smashboards? You know, in a similar fashion to the whole "Brawl Level 9 CPUs can read human player inputs" shenanigan. Aidan the Gamer 23:57, 8 November 2014 (EST)

In the "General" section, there is this line: "Prior to Super Smash Bros. 4's release, for instance, images featuring Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening became common, with most incorrectly using the American romanization of his name ("Chrom") instead of his Japanese romanization ("Krom")." This is entirely false, as "Chrom" is very clearly how his name is romanized in Japan as well and the FE fandom has known this for years; "Krom" was nothing more than fans guessing before more information came out. Rayman rumor
These images and this video show what appear to be Mewtwo and Rayman as DLC. Would this be notable enough to put on the main page? Laniv (talk) 19:16, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- Definitely not on the front page. It MIGHT be real, but let's not put our eggs in its basket yet. Laikue (talk | contribs) 19:55, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- I can definitely believe that this looks legitimate. Though I must know...if this is legit (because we'd all have to wait until March 31), then why didn't the uploader play either one of the two character's announcer clip? Hylia's Eye (talk) 00:55, 15 February 2015 (EST)
- I'd like to say that this is looking more and more legit the more I study it. Not only do we have fresh renders of the two, but the video in particular has all the UI effects intact, even the background animations. The fire behind the character grid in particular is seamless, even with everyone shifted to accommodate the two newcomers. With all their different silhouettes, that would be a nigh-impossible effect to pull off if this footage is fake. Not to mention the 3D-modeled selector hand moving across this grid - again, with no apparent errors. If this is a fake, it was done by a professional and it would have taken a long time to do. The timing also supports the leak, with the shop button included in within matching similar additions made to the 3DS menus in the 1.0.5 update only a few days ago. This is almost certainly real. VinLAURiA (talk) 20:53, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- Well, although unrelated to the OP, if he's in the games as playable for real, we could use this mockup icon for use until the official one is released: If it's not real, then the image can be discarded, but that's just an idea. Either way I hope it's real. I photoshopped the top right side of his head, by the way. Flight (talk) 22:22, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- OK, to counter your points: The game has been out for three months, that's long enough for someone to be able to hack the game and insert the renders into the menu. The fire effects would probably work as they would when there are different levels of characters unlocked. As for the shop icon, we've known about the shop icon since before November, it's nothing big. As for the fresh renders, there have been realistic renders before (see the previous archive of this page, Klonoa) that turned out to be fake. It MIGHT be real, I still say that, but it would definitely NOT be impossible to fake this, not in the slightest. Laikue (talk | contribs) 22:29, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- Has there actually been any evidence of hacking the game yet, though? I am aware that people have been able to rip from it, as Wii U models are finally floating around on the GMod Workshop, but as far as I've heard no one has actually been able to inject new code into the game yet. Also, exactly where did we hear about the shop icon before November? I don't remember anything like that. I know there were a few extra buttons discovered in the 3DS version, but nothing about the Wii U one. VinLAURiA (talk) 23:26, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- I don't quite remember, I have a bad memory, but I'm almost positive I've seen it before. Either way, we'll know in a few days. If we already have footage, Gameplay probably isn't too far off. Laikue (talk | contribs) 23:29, 14 February 2015 (EST)
- SSBU hacking already includes rudimentary editing of in-game stuff. I can't in good conscience treat this as fully confirmed the way Shulk/Bowser Jr. were after we got the ESRB gameplay videos. Miles (talk) 23:51, 14 February 2015 (EST)

- I..... can see hardly any differences. Yeah it looks different, but it's from another angle with Bright lighting, unlike the Direct image's darker lighting. Go watch Pokemon the first movie and it'll look less extreme (no insult intended, sorry if I offend you). There might be a few minor differences, but you can see differences from the first trailer to the final release as well. And yes, I'm playing both sides of the coin since I'm neutral, ever so slightly leaning to false, on this whole thing. Laikue (talk | contribs) 00:24, 15 February 2015 (EST)

- Shit, I've been playing with the images in Paint.net and I don't know if this is a point for or against the leak, but the eye lines up damn-near flawlessly. It's most likely a point for the leak as the images look to be in the same depth as each other and nothing else really lines up since, like I said before, the images are from very different angles with different lighting effects. I think I might leaning slightly the other way now.... Laikue (talk | contribs) 00:57, 15 February 2015 (EST)

You're right, not many people have heard of this leak, I just know that Bayonneta is a highly requested character, but here's the image.https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ8gBpaZseTXDn_vyWVSvGN-3X1nUwMYteWBzXbH3b8FbfBbPnl Nintenzilla 21:40, 28 March 2015 (EDT)
Falco "leak"
I don't know many people who heard of this rumor before it was leaked, in fact I think it should be removed.Nintenzilla 21:42, 2 April 2015 (EDT)
Would that be okay? It wasn't very widespread and doesn't really have an excuse like the Lucina one.Nintenzilla 15:48, 3 April 2015 (EDT)
Palutena Rumor
You think that after a few weeks he'll move on? Although I do kind of agree with him, I don't know if these images can be trusted, usually when a good leak is debunked, the creator comes out and admits him self, it's fake. Did the creator come out and say it was fake, or was it just the images? Hello? Nintenzilla 14:35, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
No more balance patches according to Sakurai?
Back 4 months ago on December 2014 I heard that there won't be anymore balance patches but on April 15th I been hearing that there will be another balance patch along side the Mewtwo DLC. Was it true that there won't be anymore balance patches according to Sakurai or is this a false rumor, just so that it would scare Diddy Kong players? Dots (talk) The Goldeneye 12:39, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- What you've been hearing is true; in the April 1st Nintendo Direct, they said the update would bring patches. That being said, I don't think that that would qualify for this page. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 12:43, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- In this case the next update will bring out a balance patch correct? Dots (talk) The Falcon 12:54, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- Yes, similar to 1.0.4. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 12:55, 13 April 2015 (EDT)

- Sakurai never said that, it was a translation error. Laikue (talk | contribs) 13:59, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- ...a translation error? I'd like to see some proof for this (not that I don't trust you). Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 14:00, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- I think it was a problem I've seen pop up numerous times relating to Nintendo's business speak in translation, where "no plans for _____" gets read in English as "we're not going to do ______" as opposed to a more accurate reading of "no comment regarding ______". Miles (talk) 14:02, 13 April 2015 (EDT)
- I see. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 14:04, 13 April 2015 (EDT)

Royu Leak?
Does this really count as a "rumor"? I mean, while the files' actual intentions are unclear, we have significant proof that they exist. Surely there's somewhere better to put this? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 21:38, 18 April 2015 (EDT)
Well, Sakurai's attending a Fire Emblem concert, maybe we'll see Roy there.: https://mobile.twitter.com/CuttingRoomWiki/status/588467223833882627 and Cutting Room Floor confirmed the files ot be real.: https://twitter.com/LTNintendo/status/588938332891176960 71.234.201.158 09:40, 20 April 2015 (EDT)
