Name[edit]

How do you say his name?12.74.207.137 02:54, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Exactly how it's spelled. She-geh-roo mee-yah-moe-toe. -Gargomon251 (talk) 07:00, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
She gay rue me a mow toe. --Smash-jay (talk) 01:46, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
That's what I just said. 10 months ago. -Gargomon251 (talk) 01:57, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
I will say nothing more... --Smash-jay (talk) 20:10, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, why don't we put brawl in place of Mario and Sonic? :: –King KirbyD(talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by King KirbyD (talkcontribs) 04:20, 18 March 2012

Because Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a more prominent example. The two rivals are explicitly mentioned in the game name, and on the box art. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 00:26, 18 March 2012 (EDT)

Out of Date?[edit]

Is there anything new that's particularly necessary? Maybe we could mention the Pac-Man thing, but other than that... Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 17:17, 17 March 2016 (EDT)

Deletion[edit]

I can totally see why this was flagged for deletion as Miyamoto's links to Smash are tenuous, although I'll place a light oppose on the grounds that Miyamoto is credited with the creation of many of Smash's playable characters. Although he is indeed the creator of a lot characters in the game, I don't believe that's enough to warrant an entire article. It would be better to have him only mentioned on this article. The article I linked currently has a lot of issues and I intend on cleaning it up within the coming days. Pokebub (talk) 01:43, 29 March 2018 (EDT)

Hard oppose, he has contributed towards the development of the game, and obviously it goes without saying that he's a huge name in the Nintendo scene so deleting his page seems like an awful idea to me. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 04:53, 29 March 2018 (EDT)

Strong oppose. Even if Miyamoto was not well-involved in the game's development, he was still involved, and most of his creations are in this game. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 05:13, 29 March 2018 (EDT)

Very strong oppose. He made Link and his fellow representatives! He made Fox and his fellow representatives! He made fucking Mario and his fellow representatives! He created over half the characters seen in the entire fucking Smash 64 roster, not to mention Olimar and his fucking Pikmin, damn it!!! Where the hell do you get off saying that he isn't significant to Smash?!!? Iron Reggie, the Fearsome Warrior 01:38, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Please watch your tone, it is excessively aggressive. I’ve observed that you seem to get a bit emotional when engaging in talk page discussions. Please try to keep it in check. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 11:32, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Strong oppose. Very significant figure in Nintendo. Much of his work is in Smash, if not the majority of the stuff in Smash are his creations. MHStarCraft 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P 11:39, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Strong oppose Miyamoto is a great man and he created many Nintendo characters during his legacy including Mario, Bowser, Link and more. I like it here the way it is! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 11:50, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Strong oppose. He is a high contributor to the Smash Series and he is one of the key members of Nintendo like Iwata. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is made in America 11:54, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Support. For what it's worth, most of these opposition comments are saying that he warrants an article because "his creations are in Smash"; to that, I ask why there aren't articles on Hideki Kamiya, Yuji Naka, and Gunpei Yokoi (among others). A developer should only have an article if they contribute majorly to Smash Bros. (and are well known for doing so; we don't need articles on every single person in the credits). Aidan, the Rurouni 11:55, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Indeed why aren't there? I don't see a good reason why we couldn't have articles on the creators of the fighters. Serpent SKSig.png King 13:30, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Because they aren't relevant enough. Most if not all the articles would be "X created Y who is playable in Z." The only reasonable recognition would be a mention on the significant devs page or a section exclusively for people who created characters featured in Smash. Most of the opposes are simply people saying that a lot of characters are his creation, but again, apart from that, he's had very little actual involvement in the series. Pokebub (talk) 23:06, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Oppose - Not only has he made The Nintendo mascot, which is probably enough itself for an article, he his many other characters that feature in the game, like Link, Fox and my main in SSB4. I assume he was involved at least somewhat in a Smash-game's making as well. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ I'm just uploading this for him. 18:55, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

If you ask me, in a situation like this, I think the best thing to say is "just because you're louder doesn't make you right". Aidan, the Rurouni 13:17, 6 April 2018 (EDT)

I sincerely hope you're not suggesting that we ignore the consensus just because your opinion is different from that of the majority, because that's somewhat of a dangerous precedent. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 13:21, 6 April 2018 (EDT)
I am not saying that because my opinion is different from the majority (because seriously, who's that horrible of a person?). I'm saying that one side has a poorer argument than the other. Both are valid arguments, that much I will concede. But the vast majority of the comments (emphasis on majority) are repeating the same thing over and over again. Aidan, the Rurouni 13:30, 6 April 2018 (EDT)
"the vast majority of the comments (emphasis on majority) are repeating the same thing over and over again" I could say the same thing about your side of the argument. I can understand why you would disagree with me on this, but the fact that you are outright claiming to have the superior argument frankly does not seem to be conducive to a proper discussion on the proposal. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 13:36, 6 April 2018 (EDT)

Can someone please tell me why we detail each characters' universe (including the parts that aren't related to our series), and that's fine, but we can't detail the people behind their creation? Also no Aidan, the supporting argument is weak at best, it basically boils down to "He only created the characters, he's not relevant to smash", to which I say "says who?"
