Article on Wikipedia Werewolf

The Werewolf (狼男, Wolf Man) is a recurring enemy in the Castlevania series. His role tends to switch back and forth between enemy type, or boss battle, depending on what's needed for the game. If an enemy type they tend to be found in packs.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Werewolf appears as a background character in Dracula's Castle. He does not seem to interact with the fighters.

Origin

Werewolves, humans who are either able or compelled to transform into a wolf or wolflike creature, are a staple of European folklore and horror fiction, and thus a natural presence in the Castlevania series. Werewolves originally appeared in Simon's Quest as common enemies, known as Wolfmen (a possible reference to the 1941 film The Wolf Man, starring Lon Chaney Jr.) in the translation. Starting in Rondo of Blood, Werewolves became boss characters at the end of the normal route for Stages 2 and 2'. Upon defeat, the Werewolf reverts back into a naked human and expires. Symphony of the Night featured Werewolves as both a boss and an enemy.

A notable werewolf in the series is Cornell from Legacy of Darkness, being the first and only playable werewolf, fighting against Dracula and his minions to rescue his adoptive sister Ada, and rid himself of his dark powers.
