Controversy

In Losers Finals, Kobe won the first two games against Epic_Gabriel with their usual mains. Epic_Gabriel, in a defeating mindset after his initial losses then asked Kobe to play random pocket characters, which Kobe accepted (Gabriel playing Diddy Kong and Kobe Little Mac). He managed to win the third game and with the momentum, reverse 3-0 Kobe when they went back to their mains for game 5. Epic_Gabriel went to Grands Finals and ended up winning Shell Shock.

Many smashers and beyond, such as Goblin[1] (who is friends with Epic_Gabriel), Sharpy[2] and many Central Florida local players[3], expressed their disappointment towards Epic_Gabriel on Twitter. Many other smashers such as Mr.R[4], Zenyou[5], RiotLettuce[6] or Laid[7] brought their support to Gabriel, mentioning that Kobe shouldn't have accepted that favour. After an exchange in private messages, Kobe and Epic_Gabriel ended the controversy, Kobe saying that he will simply answer "no" next time[8].
