Team Ben is a crew from Maryland, founded in 2003 by Wife, Oro and Kenny Johnson, three childhood friends. At their debut tournament, Live or Die, Kenny Johnson was caught unprepared when asked what the crew's name was, so he spurted out that they were called "Team Ben", in memory of a dear departed friend who played the game with them. The crew didn't start to gain notoriety until Husband, a friend of Wife and Oro, joined in 2005, at which point Husband, Wife and Oro began traveling all over America to attend as many large tournaments as possible, enjoying great success wherever they went. They stood out from other crews not only for their success in tournaments, but also for the number of tournaments they attended and the distance they were willing to travel in order to attend them.

At the 2006 season premier of Major League Gaming, the crew had the most members it has ever had at one time, they were backed by a sponsorship deal with White Castle, and they had come to be known to smashers all across the nation for their skill and fierce competitiveness - it was probably the prime of Team Ben's career.
Coinciding with the Golden Age of Melee, the crew would grow grew to many as six members, earn a sponsorship from White Castle, and enjoy brief affiliation with Team Carbon. In the Platinum Age, Team Ben has only two active members: Husband and Wife.
