It says the most famous cheat is Sonic and Tails in Brawl. But it also says the most famous cheat is Sonic and Tails in Melee. The Brawl one is incorrect and should be changed. Smash Bros is Best 21:08, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Strong Delete: I'm with Semicolon on this one. The rumors are simply opinions and aren't even important anymoar! Also, the Sonic and Tails rumors were april fools jokes as well as Toad. To use the master hand in SSB, one would need an action replay! That's what I need to say on teh subject. Anyone agree? Blue Ninjakoopa Talk to me 22:48, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Keep: This page is very useful. Would you like to see someone put up a page, say, about Toad, how he is a "Secret Character", and how to unlock him? Then some sensible person would come along, delete the page or change it to say he was a rumor in Melee, and he is NOT in the game. An edit war would soon ensue. Geno

I know I'll regret saying this but why not add a section on Geno detailing how people think he wasn't added because of Square, those hacks on YouTube that make him a toggle on the Random button, and how the rumor might also tie to the cutting of Beware the Forest Mushrooms. --RoyboyX (talk) 21:46, 28 August 2011 (EDT)

The rumors on Geno possibly appearing in Brawl have already been mentioned here. Toa 95 (talk)
I know, but there's more depth to them than there is Mega Man. People think that Nintendo might have asked Square to let them use Geno, but they weren't allowed and so they might have scrapped Beware the Forest Mushrooms because of that. --RoyboyX (talk) 22:00, 28 August 2011 (EDT)

Article name

I propose moving this back to List of rumors because much of the content focuses on rumors which turn out to be false. Sonic being playable in Melee is a rumor, not a fact because he is not playable in Melee. Unlocking Master Hand and Metal Mario without hacking in SSB is also untrue. For similar reasons, this article should also not be named List of little known secrets. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 20:22, 2 April 2012 (EDT)

US/UK spelling rule

How does it go? I made an edit earlier changing 'rumour' to 'rumor', but then I came to realize that such an shuns the editor who placed the information there to begin with and reverted myself. There are Wikipedia articles that have US and UK spelling variants co-exist (that is relevant since we, like most wikis, follow Wikipedia as an example in some ways), so should it be a general rule for them to be allowed on the same article? Or should only one variant of the word be used throughout the entire article? Discuss. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 14:25, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

Since the title here uses the US spelling, it's only consistency for the section titles to be US spelling as well. Omega Tyrant   14:32, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

2 out of 3

Just want to point out, perhaps the Tweet count being stuck at 8,807 is the result of lagging in the Twitter database. Not saying this proves the rumor true or anything. --RoyboyX  Talk 16:29, 30 May 2012 (EDT)

True, but fetching a single number based on a single property (in this case, the user in question) is one of the cheaper database operations and is unlikely to be laggy. Toomai Glittershine   The Bold 17:51, 30 May 2012 (EDT)
Well, if it was, which is VERY unlikely, true and that it was lag, 2 out of 3 probably meant 2 of the 3 he wants in it ARE NOT going to be in the game, since Mega Man WAS confirmed to be in it.MegaMCAlly (talk) 13:21, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

No one's responded and since there is no real reason to remove it, I am re-adding it. ChuckNorris  15:54, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
One guy claiming to work for Namco doesn't do a rumour, it's far from the very definition. Also, the fact that one thing he 'leaked' so far turned out to be correct is irrelevant; I can do the same thing. I'm a psychic and I can prove it: I sense that you've been going to school, know someone who has a pet, and it even appears you have a history of playing video games. Am I spooky, or what? - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 16:23, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
The majority of the rumors on this page are just people claiming they know information about an SSB game. I don't see how this is any different from the others. ChuckNorris  17:16, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
A rumour constitutes a somewhat widespread, unconfirmed claim. Thus, one person appearing out of nowhere making these claims does not make a rumour, no matter to what degree he pretends to be a Namco employee. - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 17:41, 7 June 2013 (EDT)

Chuck, for this to be covered here, the rumor has to be widespread, and not be restricted to a single thread on a single site. Stop readding it to the article, unless you can show us that this was prevalent elsewhere. Omega Tyrant   03:09, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

I did a quick Google search. It's been covered on Mind of the Geek.com, It's been mentioned on ign message boards, Latinos post.com, Smash Boards, and many others. I'd say it's widespread enough to be on here. ChuckNorris  08:38, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

2 out of 3 thought

This article states that the 2 out of 3 rumor was "proven false". But what if Isaac from Golden Sun actually appears as playable and Geno not? Or even Vice Versa? Then the rumor would be true! So technically, the rumor isn't proven or disproven true. (Un-User)75.141.44.196 15:24, 3 February 2014 (EST)

Even if what the rumour claims turns out to be true, the rumour itself is false because what it claims to have occurred (Sakurai making a tweet and retracting it) was proven to have never happened. Toomai Glittershine   Le Grand Fromage 15:47, 3 February 2014 (EST)

He isn't there, which means it's lie. It was also a popular lie, therefor it's a rumor. Even if he comes in with that artwork, by some strange coincidence, he wasn't there, on the Japanese site, so it's a lie - a popular lie. Which means it's a rumor. --72.53.134.85 21:44, 5 February 2014 (EST)

Re Monsieur Crow

First off, welcome back. Second, I suggest we have Lucina, Falco, Pac-Man and Palutena share a section, so like Leaked(?) Characters. RoyboyX Talk 18:29, 8 February 2014 (EST)

I see you, RoyboyX.
My main concern with the article isn't that the article is becoming disorganised (on the contrary, I'd argue that a game-by-game model is probably the neatest we can accomplish), but rather, that the article is going to become too SSB4-heavy; the section already contains nine different rumours while the game is still in development, whereas in the eight years since Brawl's announcement, we also have nine. In the coming months, there's obviously going to be even more rumours, making things only more chaotic in the section.
I'm thinking that we might have to find a way to distinguish between "notable" and "non-notable" rumours, but I can't think of a way to do so that would prevent this article from either shrinking or doing nothing. I considered splitting this article much like our old Beta elements article, but the 64 and Melee sections would have too little to stand on their own in that regard.
That's all.

"How do we know that Takashi himself didn't state this?"
This is just dumb. If the guy said anything anywhere about it, then it can be sourced. You have no such source, thus as far as everyone sees, he never stated such. And a random statement on a Wiki added by a random user (that should have been reverted already) does not at all constitute a "notable rumor". Regarding a rumor proven true kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

This is directed to Monsieur Crow, and only Monsieur Crow. You know that Lucas and Ness thing? Well, that was actually not very wide-spread, and then proven true. I think that this "rumor" isn't worth enough to mention here. I think it would make more sense to, instead, mention this on Ness' Melee page and Lucas' character page. 75.141.44.196 16:07, 14 March 2014 (EDT)

If memory serves, this guy worked on the bulk of that section, with me only making a few grammatical edits (if any at all). That said, I believe the rumour began its spread with the reveal of Lucas in Brawl, and it has seen some revival due to speculation over SSB4's unrevealed roster, thus making this a notable rumour. Also, the fact that the rumour was eventually proven true doesn't change the fact that it started as a rumour.
Outside of this, Lucas's page on the Wiki already mentions the rumour, but Ness's doesn't. I see no problems with including this bit on the aforementioned page, though. Be bold.

There's a rumor going around that a Black Mage screenshot has been leaked. It is a fake to me. Here's where the rumor began. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiIC6FDy2fU. While it is interesting to see the variety of faked character reveal images, none of your aforementioned rumours have significant enough spread to warrant mentioning on this article. In general, we want to see some significant spread for rumours (i.e. appearances in notable newssites, significant discussion on forums like SWF, etc.) before they're placed on the page; alternatively, they could have some form of "uniqueness" that helps them be diffrentiated from other rumours (such as the Lucina hoax, which showed that Brawl hacks can be used to manufacture rumours).

"E-Reader Leak"

Apparently someone "leaked" a bonus disc along with E-Reader cards that were supposed to unlock new characters. These cards were "meant to appear" at some sort of con Nintendo was going to. The character that was "unlocked" was Leon Kennedy. However, some SmashBoards users appear to have debunked it, but this isn't completely understood. Should this be in the main article or should we wait a little longer and see what happens? While this is an interesting rumor, it doesn't seem to have any notable spread associated with it, especially since the discussion about it seems to peter out at the end of the page it's posted on.
If it starts making it rounds on other sites like AiB or is even covered by gaming websites, however, those could be grounds to include it on the article.
