Recipherus is a retired Melee Sheik main from Los Angeles, California. He was well-known for briefly being considered Melee's best player in the game's competitive beginnings before Ken emerged, back when tournament rulesets still had items on and had most stages legal, while he would remain Ken's strongest competition in the pre-MLG era after Ken started competing. He consistently placed top 3 at all tournaments he entered during this time, while also travelling across the US to compete, where he placed 2nd at MOAST and 1st at Snexus 2, and additionally won a then-record-setting $8,000 for 1st at IVGF Northwest Regionals (a record he would hold until PC Chris earned $10,000 for winning MLG Las Vegas 2006 over three years later).
