This is a list of meteor smashes in Super Smash Bros..

As noted in the main article, there is no meteor canceling in the original, so some prefer the term spike for these set of moves, though they are officially called Meteor Smashes. They as a whole are much faster than their counterparts in Melee and Brawl, even considering the increased speed of the game.

Captain Falcon

  • Down aerial - Its hitbox extends from his chest to his feet. As the chest connects, the opponent will be sent at a slight angle.

Donkey Kong

  • Down aerial - Donkey Kong's feet grow when the attack is used, making the spike wider than others.
  • Forward aerial - The attack sends the opponents in different angles depending on which area hits. It has very little landing lag.

Fox

  • Down aerial - A drill aerial which isn't great on damage output. It can combo effectively to his up tilt.

Jigglypuff

  • Down aerial - A drill aerial that can be followed up with many ground attacks. It is the weakest meteor smash.

Kirby

  • Down aerial - A drill aerial that has a landing hitbox that prevents up tilt follow ups unless it is Z-canceled.
  • Final Cutter - A up special move that can be used against characters which recover with some extra height to throw them down.

Luigi

  • Down aerial - A drill aerial that has almost no knockback. It is less effective than Mario's because of Luigi's jumping height.

Mario

  • Down aerial - A drill aerial that has weak set knockback.
  • Mario Tornado - It can meteor smash when the lower segment of the final hitbox lands successfully.

Ness

  • Down aerial - Even though it has short range, it is very quick and can deal a lot of damage if double jump canceled.

Samus

  • Down aerial - It is a very quick meteor smash, meaning it is very effective.

Yoshi

  • Down aerial - Despite the move being weak, it has the greatest damage output of many attacks.
  • Forward aerial - It has great knockback for its speed, being reliable for early KOs.
