The L button, as seen on the Nintendo 64 controller, the GameCube controller, and both Classic Controllers.
The L button refers to the large, grey button on the top left corner of the GameCube, Classic, and Nintendo 64 controllers. Similarly to the R button, it is used in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl for defense techniques, such as shielding, rolling, and sidestep dodging, while it is used in SSB to taunt.
