(Added a 'Glitches' section and one entry about the glitch where Gordo gets stuck to DDD and he can no longer use the move. It seems that no one is completely clear on how/why this happens, so an explanation should be added when the cause is discovered.)

Gordo Throw is King Dedede's side special move in Super Smash Bros. 4.

Overview

King Dedede pulls out a Gordo and hits it with his hammer, sending it bouncing in front of him. The Gordo can bounce up to three times, getting progressively weaker, and damages enemies on hit, bouncing off them and disappearing shortly after. It disappears shortly after the third bounce if no target is hit. However, it can be reflected, thus being able to damage King Dedede himself, by enemy attacks, and not just dedicated reflectors. The trajectory of the Gordo can be adjusted in three different ways by tilting the control stick:

  • No tilting or horizontal direction: the Gordo is able to cover almost the entire distance of Final Destination. Each bounce is slightly shorter.
  • Upward tilt: the Gordo covers a much shorter horizontal distance, about one third of Final Destination, but bounces progressively higher, reaching a height about double of King Dedede's. The bounces get noticeably shorter.
  • Downward tilt: the Gordo covers a distance of about three quarters of Final Destination. The increase in height and the decrease in horizontal distance is very noticeable.

Only one Gordo can be thrown at a time: when a Gordo is already out, the attack consists in a single hammer swipe which damages targets for 10%.

Gordos have a chance of getting stuck in any wall they hit, causing slight damage to opponents that touch them. They will then disappear after a few seconds.

Customization

Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the known variations:

  1. Topspin Gordo
  2. Bouncing Gordo

Description from the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Foldout

Send a spiky Gordo flying. Can change trajectory with Circle Pad.

Origin

This move is a variation on King Dedede's side special move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Waddle Dee Toss, which can rarely throw Gordos.

Glitches

  • Gordo Bur: There is a known glitch that causes Gordo to appear to be stuck to King Dedede and that disables him from using the technique for the rest of the match, even after he dies. What exactly causes the glitch is unclear, however it seems to be related to an opponent hitting Gordo back at King Dedede. The glitch can be seen here.
