Research

Before blindly deleting any smasher article that is not written well or is a stub, actually conduct sufficient research of the smasher in question. If you researched Aesis, you would have seen that he clearly satisfies our notability guidelines. Also as a reminder, an article being an expandable stub or not being well written is not a proper criterion for deletion, even in the case of smasher articles. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 03:28, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

Also, if you think a particular smasher article should be deleted, but can not or just don't feel like researching them, put up a deletion tag instead of deleting them. This way, it can give someone else, such as myself, a chance to research the smasher first to see if they are notable and give anyone else a chance to object to the deletion. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 04:19, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

Fair enough. What I had been doing was deleting anything that made little or no attempt to explain why they fit our the notability guideline. Nevertheless, I shall be more careful. Miles (talk) 11:32, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

this edit

Why did you say this? The Falco Matchup chart shows his matchup against MK as even. Mr. Anon (talk) 22:56, 16 October 2010 (EDT)

Matchups are approximate and ever-fluctuating. So specifying "Falco v. MK matchup" is even in that opening paragraph is highly inappropriate. Miles (talk) 22:57, 16 October 2010 (EDT)
But the original edit specified that the matchup was approximate. Mr. Anon (talk) 23:01, 16 October 2010 (EDT)
As are several others. My goal is to avoid over-specificity here, and the phrasing of that sentence makes clear there are approximately even matchups as is. Miles (talk) 23:02, 16 October 2010 (EDT)

Move

Excuse me, I am LapisScarab from the Kingdom Heart Wiki. We are considering moving due to the new wiki Skin as you did, and We would like to know exactly how the Smash Wiki did so. If you can help, please go to this forum. Thank you very much in advance.--68.100.231.120 22:15, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

I would say get in contact with the NIWA folks through the first email address on this page. NIWA would probably be glad to have you. (I personally didn't do much of the moving work, but I'm sure the NIWAns would be glad to help.) Miles (talk) 22:17, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

About interwiki links

Hey, so I'm from Bulbapedia. Anyways over there we have a system of interwiki links, which are basically just link prefixes that can be created to link internally or to external/ sites. What we do there is, have something like [[bp:Main page]] that would automatically add in the the URL of Bulbapedia to the prefix. You guys can probably have a similar system here if you decide to add these. Since your wiki covers a lot of the Nintendo franchise, it'll make linking to those wikis apart of NIWA easier. There should be a page called Interwiki Manager somewhere in the Special pages. Jellotalk 18:40, 29 October 2010 (EDT)

Agreed that this is useful, but I'm unable to edit anything on Special:Interwiki. Is it bureaucrat-only? If so, talk to my buddy Toomai. Miles (talk)

Actually, I'm not sure what the default user level this is available to (if even at all), as it may differ from wiki to wiki. Jellotalk 18:56, 29 October 2010 (EDT)

On the Master Hand page

What do you mean by my edits were terrible? Mr. Anon (talk) 21:38, 29 October 2010 (EDT)

...I was misinterpreting some of your edits. Forgive that. Miles (talk) 21:42, 29 October 2010 (EDT)

Your new user name...

...is a bit redundant. I suppose your AiB ID will become "Miles of AllisBrawl" as well? Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 17:23, 31 October 2010 (EDT)

Nah. I'm just sticking with this as my videogamesite alias. It works.

LOLWHOOPS

Sorry for that before...LOL.--KoRoBeNiKi (talk) 22:11, 31 October 2010 (EDT)

Such things happen. Miles (talk) 22:14, 31 October 2010 (EDT)

Hey Miles.

I see this place is independent now. Just like when it was when I joined it in July of 2007. Good times. So, aside from the split, has anything interesting happened here lately? Also, can I have my rollback/admin powers back? --Posted by Pikamander2 (Talk) at 23:18, 31 October 2010 (EDT)

Miles isn't a bureaucrat, so you'll have to ask Toomai for your admin powers. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 23:22, 31 October 2010 (EDT)
Indeed. You've been away for a while, but I can't see why we'd deny you the ability. Miles (talk) 23:25, 31 October 2010 (EDT)

Polls

In case you haven't noticed, the polls have stopped working (<poll> </poll>). I mentioned this to OT, but you've seen the notice I'm sure.--Vincent TranUnmasked Meta knight.png 23:19, 1 November 2010 (EDT)

Take it to Porple. I have no idea what happened. Miles (talk) 23:49, 1 November 2010 (EDT)

DISPLAYTITLE

Not to sound difficult, but why should the DISPLAYTITLE template be removed? Just wondering. Green Mario (talk) 21:40, 2 December 2010 (EST)

People will click on a link to User:Green Mario and likely get a little confused why (at least from first appearances) that wasn't the page they ended up on. It's the kind of thing that while it isn't policy, is sorta a common sense thing. Miles (talk) 21:54, 2 December 2010 (EST)

Recent deletions

Did you actually researched all those smasher articles? Or did you just blindly delete all those marked for deletion? Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:20, 22 December 2010 (EST)

I didn't have time to fully research them, but a quick check shown me that at least four of the smashers whose articles were deleted were notable enough to satisfy out notability requirements. And I'm sure another one or two of those deleted smasher articles were notable enough as well. Please be more considerate when deleting smasher articles in future. An article being a stub, poorly written, or having a long time deletion tag is not a proper criterion for deletion. Deleting an article just to reduce the amount of tagged articles and/or just to reduce the amount of stubs is a horrible practice that is detrimental to the Wiki. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:01, 22 December 2010 (EST)
I just was following the procedure of deleting articles that did not make any attempt to meet/display the criteria necessary for notability. I don't usually spend the time to research them all individually, especially given the large number of Smasher articles of questionable notability which crop up.
