Ike (SSBU)/Neutral aerial
Overview[edit]
Ike does a downward arcing slash underneath himself.
This is one of Ike's faster moves (frame 10) with the move covering all around him in a wide arc. Its large hitboxes and long duration make it a difficult move to challenge for characters without disjoints. Low landing lag (9 frames) gives this move high combo potential, especially out of a fast fall. At early percents, it combos into up tilt. At mid percents, it has kill confirms into up aerial, back aerial and up special.
However, This move suffers from some minor flaws. While it's fast for Ike's standards, it's also rather sluggish compared to most neutral aerials. This makes the move a poor out of shield option. Additionally, the move has high endlag, making it a risky move offstage and very committal out of a full hop or double jump.
In patch 8.0.0, this move was nerfed, making the hitboxes of the late hit smaller, with its knockback was also increased, making it less viable for combos.
Overall, Ike's neutral aerial is an essential part of his toolkit. While not one of the best neutral aerials in the game, it's still a contender for Ike's best move.
Update History[edit]
The move has much more knockback scaling (105 → 130). This removes its previous KO setups, but restores most of its standalone KO power from Smash 4.
The late hit has smaller hitboxes (4u → 3u).
