Before Brawl was first shown off, I've never heard of Pit. I was intrigued to see how he would play out, and since I really like supernatural characters, I wanted to play as him. I play off of setups and quick-time thinking. Ness has a very fast ground game and a powerful SHFF game, so I think that's good. And also because PK Fire>Down tilt>Grab>Pummel>D-throw>Fair/Dair is cheap. I can also feed off of trip animations using my 100% tripping sweetspotted down tilt to set up slow powerful stuff like Fsmashes or short hopped Uairs (and in the best case scenario, PK Fire combos). <font face="sand"><font color="black">Qw</font><font color="00004F">er</font><font color="00007F">ty</font></font> 23:05, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

Forums: Index Watercooler Why do you main the character you main?

I'm curious. Why do you main the character you main? All I ask is that you give a brief or lengthy explanation. I'll start: I main Mario and Kirby in every installation because I like their games (playing them got me into gaming in general), and I like the way they feel in Smash Bros. as characters. I main R.O.B. in Brawl because I like his design and moveset a lot, and have been a huge fan of him ever since I saw him in Mario Kart DS. The reason I main the same characters with each passing generation is because I like being consistent, and switching characters with each new game doesn't seem like it would help me develop any skills. I main Marth in both Melee (as a co-main) and Brawl because I just love how he plays. Chilex (talk) 19:29, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

R.O.B. just fits me perfectly. Experience with Olimar and Toon Link has taught me that I play best when I rely on projectiles. R.O.B. has a quick, accurate projectile (uncharged Robo Beam), a slower but stronger projectile (charged Robo Beam), and an item-style projectile (Gyro). Other attacks such as the forward tilt also have great range. The other main reason is that I have loved robots for my whole life, as the TV show Robot Wars is one of my biggest passions. Therefore, R.O.B. is a character with a strong projectile game, and is a robot. Perfect. Bring him back for Smash 4, I'm begging you, Sakurai. I main Yoshi because he's Yoshi, regardless of the game or his attributes. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Irrepressible 22:23, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

I like characters with satisfying aerials, so Luigi, G&W, and R.O.B. are good choices for me. That said, I prefer a little-bit-of-everything sort of playstyle (not quite to "maining random") over sticking to a few characters. Miles (talk) 22:25, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

I main Kirby, well because my cousin introduced me to Super Smash Brothers on the N64 a while back and he is a Kirby main. I eventually learn his movesets and that's why I'm a Kirby main. Although my favorite pairing is Zelda and Falco, I use them often but not for completing modes on higher difficulties. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is bad for me 22:37, 26 July 2014 (EDT)
