Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature. Long explanations for your vote are discouraged, as they are unnecessary (a vote is worth the same regardless of its reasoning), and they inflate the size of an already large page.
  2. You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to follow this rule; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already large page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Your vote will also be considered a half-vote if your edit causes someone else's valid vote to break one of these rules. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Multiple votes are not allowed; attempts to circumvent this with sockpuppets will result in your vote being discounted entirely, and is a blockable offense. Probated users who attempt to circumvent their probation with sockpuppets are also committing a blockable offense and will have their vote discounted. Remember that admins have access to CheckUser to check the IPs of any user, and will use it when sockpuppetry is suspected.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.

Round 185: Master Hand vs. Crazy Hand

Winner!!

Last time this dualistic duo went down, it was a 7-7 tie. Will a symmetric rematch have a different result?

Votes for Master Hand

  1. Master Hand is a really underrated boss in Brawl (in term of difficulty), not many seem to realise how difficult he actually is on the highest difficulties in Classic, and how much he carries the Hand duo in Brawl. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 11:10, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
  2. I'm a righty. Awesome Cardinal 2000 12:13, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

Round 184: Trophies vs. Stickers

Winner!!
Trophies

17.5 to 5
Stickers.jpg
Collectibles showing off Nintendo's history in different ways. Which form of expression shows up the other?

Votes for Trophies

  1. These give you information about the subject, whereas stickers don't.71.105.121.171 22:51, 19 April 2013 (EDT)
  2. There are more 'challenge' trophies than 'challenge' stickers. 81.152.52.127 03:32, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  3. Got really sick of collecting stickers after a while, especially when I only had a few left and they were the randomly generated ones, whereas I always enjoyed collecting trophies and reading their information. 110.174.90.69 07:52, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  4. Because this came first. Terrible is April Showers 07:54, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  5. The last 50 stickers require too much luck to get. At least getting all the trophies isn't nearly as tedious.84.92.35.200 11:00, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  6. I don't think getting stickers are very rewarding to me since its just something to put on an object. But trophies are rewarding since you did something remarkable and you can place it in your bedroom to remember it in your life. Dots MewtwoMS.png The Blue 11:47, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  7. You need all the stickers if you want to complete your trophy list, unless you use a golden hammer but that's cheap. Shanderu MiniGhost.png 14:58, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  8. Trophies are very awesome. Baconlover9090 (talk) 17:45, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  9. 75.31.4.16 21:41, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  10. Stickers are flat and 2-dimensional. TROPHIES are 3D. Nuff said. SmashBall the Milkshake (talk) 22:38, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  11. Stickers...aren't terribly exciting to me. Also, I find trophies to be far more aesthetically appealing, and they are also accompanied by text that describe the character(s) or object(s) in question. Likewise, Brawl's stickers amount to little more than online search engine image cutouts, and they are about as common as grass, the fact they enhance your characters' stats in the Subspace Emissary notwithstanding. Hawk 21PSIWolf sig 1.pngTalk 22:47, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  12. I think Hawk21 just said everything for me. Lugiaboy202 (talk) 14:11, 22 April 2013 (EDT)
  13. SSBBNess (talk) SSBBNess sig image.png 07:56, 23 April 2013 (EDT)
  14. Trophies are more rewarding. When I get a new one, I get very happy. But stickers are very common. And I doesn't even use stickers in The Subspace Emissary.Tepig (talk) 12:17, 24 April 2013 (EDT)
  15. Stickers are 1-dimentional. ShupaRoehTypicalGuy.png 23:45, 24 April 2013 (EDT)
  16. They're in both games, and it's a lot easier to get all of them than all of the stickers (except for the trophy you get for getting all the stickers, of course :P). Not to mention you can learn a lot of history from them - I know I did. RickTommy 22:42, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
  17. I like trophies. They're my friends. ChuckNorrisFor usage in ChuckNorris24's signature. 08:13, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

Half-votes

  1. The trophies are like collectable action figures, but in a game. Stickers, you waste one, its wasted forever. I prefer trophies better.-Kaizer24.185.135.102 23:22, 20 April 2013 (EDT)

Votes for Stickers

  1. I just like the sound made when collecting them. 204.191.134.186 03:33, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  2. Stickers power you up in SSE. infernape612 10:04, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  3. I haven't used these in Adventure Mode, but I bring out the first-grader in me and make collages with stickers. 67.166.229.4 11:15, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  4. FAILCON PUNCH DOESN'T ALWAYS WIN!! I'm in a mario mood, so this is for Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Fedorakeeby11For usage in Fedorakeeby11's signature. Failcon Pawch!! 20:06, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
  5. /\ Sticker Star is great until the puzzles start to require stickers from half the game ago that you probably used already. Then it sucks. At least the boss fights are epic. Why am I voting for stickers again? --174.59.4.202 23:08, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
