The move is very similar to one seen in ''[[Kirby Super Star]]'' and in ''Kirby And The Amazing Mirror'', where one player is able to get a large jump by doing so off of their partner's or another Kirby's head.

The Footstool Jump is a new technique in SSBB. When a character is directly above another character, they can press the jump button to bounce off of the character's head, similar to Mario jumping on a Goomba. When used in midair, it also functions as a Meteor Smash. It does no damage, and can be used between two and six times in succession (depending on the character), with each jump resulting in approximately half the rebound. Teammates can also footstool jump each other. Like a normal jump, this jump can be Short Hopped. Players can also footstool off someone hanging on a ledge, but the character being jumped off will not fall and you don't gain as much height. This move was used by Pit in the Subspace Emmisary.

Characters who are sleeping can not be Footstool Jumped until they are awake or take damage.

The move is very similar to one seen in Kirby Super Star and in Kirby And The Amazing Mirror, where one player is able to get a large jump by doing so off of their partner's or another Kirby's head.

Infinite footstool combos on R.O.B.

Captain Falcon and Zero Suit Samus can do an infinite footstool combo on R.O.B.. Captain Falcon's combo is hit with the first hit of his neutral aerial, fast fall, footstool R.O.B. and repeat. When you rack up enough damage, use Knee Smash as a finisher. Zero Suit Samus' combo is to hit with her down smash, footstool R.O.B., then immediately use down aerial (which is the only option at an uncontrollable time) and repeat. Zero Suit Samus can also use her dash attack, forward tilt, the second jab in her jab combo, and her neutral b to mix it up as those moves have jab lock properties which can lead to finishers such a Plasma Whip.
