"Pic of the day. Pac-Man's standard special move, Bonus Fruit. As you charge this move, the bonuses will change, and all of them have different characteristics and movement patterns when thrown. The bonuses cycle in the same order as in the original game, and the charge-up period doubles once you cycle beyond the orange."~ Masahiro Sakurai

Bonus Fruit (フルーツターゲット, Fruits Target) is Pac-Man's neutral special move in Super Smash Bros. 4.

He holds out a bonus item from his original appearance and cycles through them, presumably starting at the iconic Cherry. After reaching the Orange each item takes longer to charge. When selected Pac-Man throws the item as a projectile.

While called Bonus Fruit Pac-Man has also been seen throwing a Galaxian Starship that was a bonus collectable in the original Arcade game.

Origin

Bonus fruits are one of the staples of the Pac-Man arcade games. They appear near the ghost's nest in most games, and vanish after a set time. Consuming one yields bonus points depending on the fruit. The fruits in the original Pac-Man are, in order: Cherry, Strawberry, Orange, Apple, Grapes, Galaxian Starship, Bell, and Key. In the original arcade game, after reaching Orange, the fruit begins changing every other level rather than every level (meaning you get Orange for two levels, then Apple for two levels, etc.). This is reflected in Bonus Fruit by having its charge time double once it reaches Orange.
