The 1 button

The 1 button is a small button located towards the bottom of the Wii remote, right above the 2 button. Both the 1 and 2 buttons match the colour of the Wii Remote. When playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Super Smash Bros. for Wii U with the Wii remote and Nunchuk, the 1 button executes a character's up taunt. If 1 and 2 are pressed together in Nunchuk style, a character does their side taunt. When playing with the Wii remote held sideways, the 1 button is used for special moves. If 1 and 2 are pressed together in horizontal style, the character performs a smash attack.
