Super Shadow is Shadow's Final Smash. In the attack, Shadow, using the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, transforms into a very powerful version of himself that is able to fly quickly and attack fighters by ramming into them, which slows them down. He can also fire Chaos Spears.

Summary[edit]

The screen zooms in on Shadow, and he transforms. When Shadow transforms, he gains the ability to fly around the stage at an incredible speed. The transformation lasts for about 15 seconds (though this can be extended by ramming into opponents and other things that can take damage, causing him to freeze for a moment), and, while Shadow is transformed, he is completely invincible. He is also unaffected by Bumpers. Sonic can attack in this form by simply ramming into opponents; the faster it is going, the more damage is dealt. When the opponent is attacked, the move deals about 30%, assuming Shadow is going full speed. It is similar in function to Pikachu's Final Smash, Volt Tackle, except that it cannot go through hard platforms like Volt Tackle can (however, when Sonic is too slow or has stopped moving, he will be unable to go through soft platforms), and has better knockback and control. Super Sonic cannot KO himself when he reaches the blast line, regardless of how far it is going, but if he turns back to normal while he is too far away to recover, he will be penalized with a self-destruct. In addition, Shadow ramming into an opponent will cause them to be slowed down for 15 seconds. Shadow can also fire Chaos Spears, which deal 20% each. Shadow's Final Smash is arguably among the strongest in the game, as the player cannot be KO'd or take damage for the entire duration of the transformation (even Wario-Man and Giga Bowser can accidentally self-destruct and are not nearly as fast or powerful). Furthermore, an experienced player who has learned how to control Super Shadow's unwieldy movement can use and abuse his relatively high damage output and insane speed to guarantee multiple KOs.

Upon activating the Final Smash, Shadow says, "Let's unleash the ultimate power!"

Trophy Description[edit]

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Super Shadow
When Shadow has all the Chaos Emeralds, he can transform into a being known as Super Shadow. In this form, he can slam into opponents to slow them down, as well as fire Chaos Spears.

Origin[edit]

Super Shadow as he first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2

In the Final Smash, the Chaos Emeralds appear briefly before Shadow turns into Super Shadow, and once he transforms back into Shadow. In the latter instance, the Chaos Emeralds fly off the screen in 3-D.

In the games, starting with Sonic Adventure 2, his debut, the Chaos Emeralds were plot elements, and thus in the games that Super Shadow appears in, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), it could only be used against the final bosses, The Finalhazard and Solaris, respectively. In those games, Shadow could fly around at high speeds. Like Super Sonic, however, the form runs on Rings, and since both bosses take place in space, running out of Rings will cause Shadow to lose a life. In Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, Shadow's All-Star move transforms him into Super Shadow, where he flies down the track and can fire Chaos Spears at the other racers. Since Sonic Unleashed, however, Super Shadow has not appeared in a main series Sonic game at all.

The Chaos Spears are bursts of energy Shadow can fire out via his ability to tap into the Chaos Emeralds.
