Savestate is a Super Smash Bros. Melee player from North Carolina who currently resides in Sweden. It is known as a very style-oriented Link main and is responsible for discovering several of Link's more esoteric techniques, such as Bomb Launching, Ghost Arrow, Dimensional Arrow, and Bomb Rocket. Savestate has notably taken sets off of Cob, Tylenol, and Feradit. It is currently ranked 7th on the Swedish Power Rankings, and was previously ranked 10th on the North Carolina Power Rankings.
In addition to its technical discoveries, Savestate is also known for taking on the role of community streamer and graphic designer for the North Carolina Melee community. Its endeavors in streaming led Savestate to create smash.LIVE as a streaming service for North Carolina, later joining Recursion as a producer and designer.
Outside of tournaments, Savestate also occasionally competes in speedrunning Melee's 1-P modes. In February 2018, Savestate successfully broke the 3.55 second 14-year old world record on Link's Target Test stage with a world record of 3.52 IGT. In September 2018, it developed an RNG manipulation program to achieve a world record time of 37.45 IGT in All-Star Very Easy mode, which was beaten later that day by Fuzzyness upon distribution of the program.
Savestate retired from Melee competition on March 2nd, 2023.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- At Super Smash Con 2018, Savestate faced Armada during Phase 1 pools. During the last match, Armada accidentally performed the frozen turnip glitch with Peach's turnips.
- At Pound 2019, Mang0 switched to Link in game 2 of a pools set with Savestate and lost by overextending an edgeguard.
- Outside of Super Smash Bros. Melee, Savestate enjoys creating Chiptune music and posts tracks on its Soundcloud profile.
- Using its skills in speedrunning The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Savestate beat the game within the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Masterpiece's 5-minute time limit by warping to the credits and again by beating Ganon, becoming the first known player to do so in both methods.
