Technical details[edit]
Each tip has additional data associated with them, primarily used to associate them with a character, type of attack, series, game mode, or if they have an unlock condition (i.e. tips about bosses won't appear if that boss hasn't been fought before). One property is related to how many tips the player has seen, being marked as "beginner", "middle", or "high". On a fresh save file a player will only see "beginner" tips and will start seeing "middle" tips after viewing 200 tips, then "high" tips after seeing 650 tips. Viewing tips in the Tips menu will count as seeing a tip and is not limited to seeing them on loading screens.
There are a few factors that can affect what kind of tip appears during loading screens:
- Unseen tips have a 70% chance to appear instead of an already seen one.
- Tips for stages have a 70% chance to be about to the upcoming stage and a 30% chance to be about a different stage.
- Tips for modes have an 80% chance to be about to the current mode and a 20% chance to be about a different mode.
- Tips for fighters have a 65% chance to be about the player's fighter, 30% chance to be about the opponent, and a 5% chance to be about a non-competing fighter.
The mode further affects what kind of tips appear with a weighted probability:
