Forum:Smash for Switch?

As you may or may not have heard, several sources point towards a new Super Smash Bros. game, likely a "definitive" version of SSB4, releasing for Nintendo Switch. And now there are a few signs, but mostly just hopes/speculation, that this game could even be announced at E3 this week. So let's take the time leading up to this to discuss: do you think these rumors are true? Regardless, what would you like to see in a "definitive" SSB4? Let's chat about it.

New characters are always my top pick. I don't really have anyone I'm particularly dying to see, but I'd like to have the Ice Climbers back. Inkling is also cool, though practically confirmed for whatever the next Smash game might be, and a new Pokemon from Sun & Moon would be neat (most likely picks would be Decidueye, Incineroar, or Mimikyu if I had to guess), but besides that I got nothin'. I'm hoping some stages from the 3DS version will get the spotlight; specifically Paper Mario, Magicant, Mute City, Gerudo Valley, Tortimer Island, and Balloon Fight. Maybe some returning items, too, like the Parasol. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 19:56, 11 June 2017 (EDT)

My biggest hope, honestly, is that if they do an extended-port of SSB4 to Switch, that it be given a long development cycle and not be rushed out the door. I'd actually rather they put in the time to make it 4.5 and have it come out holiday '18 than rush it out the door this year, which some people seem to expect for no reason. As for what stuff could be cool to see added, I think Inkling is the only mandatory character addition; beyond that, I do have some other ideas, although not everything listed there is particularly realistic. Obviously, Nintendo would be crazy not to release some form of Smash for the Switch, and the sooner they get it out, the sooner it can move consoles. For example, I for one have no interest in getting a Switch until some form of Smash gets on it. Like Miles said, they would be foolish to rush it, and I doubt they would - if Sakurai is involved, he'll extend development due to his perfectionist nature.
As for what I want to see in the game, I can say that everything would be perfect if Wolf and Snake were added back. All of the other characters I want to see in Smash are not feasible. Asking for anything more than Wolf and Snake would just be greedy, but returning some of the good songs were inexplicably cut from Smash 4 would be nice. Longer versions of some songs already in Smash 4 would be great. Ports of 3DS stages such as Arena Ferox or Magicant would be neat, and returning stages like Big Blue would make me happy. Making Training Mode a little more user-friendly would help the competitive scene and probably wouldn't be too difficult to implement. Also on the competitive side, buffing and nerfing characters appropriately would be an excellent move. I don't particularly care for single-player game modes, and people expecting Subspace Emissary 2 in a port are going to be disappointed. I honestly would just like to see Krystal and Tails added as characters. Two of the best foxes in video game history in my opinion. However, this may just be me talking as a furry trash tragic. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation 21:45, 11 June 2017 (EDT)
If it does happen, no upper blast line Blast KOs. PLEASE. And I hope some of the newcomers in Smash 4 don't return. Duck Hunt, Villager, Mega Man, PAC-MAN - Yes, I love them. Rosalina, Palutena, the FE characters - Not so much. For newcomers, all I have for ideas would be considered too "far-fetched" Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ I'm just uploading this for him. 23:29, 11 June 2017 (EDT)
