Luigi (ルイージ, Ruīji) will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He was announced during the Nintendo Direct on August 7, 2013, as part of Nintendo's "Year of Luigi". Like Mario, Luigi has a more cartoonish and sleeker appearance instead of the more realistic look he had in Brawl, that's more inline with his appearance in the Mario games.

Confirmed information

• The following moves are visually unchanged:
  • Crawling animation
  • Neutral attacks
  • Forward tilt
  • Up tilt
  • Dash attack
  • Forward, up, and down smashes
  • Neutral aerial
  • Forward aerial
  • Fireball
  • Green Missile
  • Super Jump Punch
  • Luigi Cyclone
  • All taunts, including down taunt meteor smash.
• Luigi has a new jumping animation where he pedals his legs, a reference to the scuttle ability he has in some games.
• The Poltergust 5000 will be a new move, strongly implied to be a new Final Smash, due to the nature of its reveal in addition to all of Luigi's other special moves remaining unchanged.
