Hello! I call myself "The Jacketed Terrapin", but you can also call me any of the nicknames listed at the end of the "Name Origin" section. I've been an editor on this wiki since July 30th, 2015.

Name Origin

Before my current name, I used to be called "SuperSmashTurtles", but I have decided to drop that name altogether because I wanted a name that I felt would identify me better (I initially formatted it as "JacketedTerrapin" before settling with the current name).

While you can probably guess the reasoning for my turtle-themed name and avatar, the jacket in my sona's design is based on an O'Neill jacket I got for Christmas of 2016 (I believe). What really stood out about this jacket for me was that it was covered in faux fur on the inside, thus providing extra warmth whenever it was cold somewhere and it was admittedly a very comfortable jacket to use as a pillow, too :P.

Do note that the jacket has been simplified for my design, as the real-life jacket has thin stripes in its design as well as sporting the O'Neill logo. The jacket also isn't quite that shade of blue, but I thought it looked nicer.

As a side note, you can call me by a few shorter nicknames. Some preferred names are "Terrapin", "Terra", or "T.J.".

My Relation to the Super Smash Bros. Series

I've been an avid fan of the Super Smash Bros. series ever since around 2006 or 2007 when I played Super Smash Bros. Melee. I'll admit that, aside from Mario and Pokémon, I never even heard of any of the characters or series in the game (Nope, not even Zelda). As a youngling, I only known whatever was on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or Disney Channel/Toon Disney, and even when it came to video games, I mostly got shoddy licensed-based games for the Game Boy Advance or PlayStation 2.

However, due to my new interest for Melee, I soon discovered this series called History Behind Super Smash Bros. Melee, which dealt in teaching about the origins of certain aspects in the game, such as characters and their movesets, stages and elements within them, and items and how they worked.

Because of it, I soon became a major Nintendo fan, and thanks to Melee and Brawl's tactic(?) of representing smaller or obscure series, it led me to become interested in anything Nintendo-published (as well as a few other non-Nintendo stuff) and speculate if a certain series has a chance to be acknowledged in the Smash games or not.

My Sandboxes

Here is a list of sandboxes that I have created.

Stat Tracking

  • Smash Bros. Universe Statistics: A list of every universe represented in the Super Smash Bros. series that orders them by what Smash game they debuted in, as well as some statistics and Chronicle-exclusive universes.
  • Major characters by their debut role: A list of roles every major character (fighters, summon characters, and enemies/bosses) had before their more major roles in the series.
  • Major characters by their debut game: A similar idea to the above sandbox, but instead lists the debut game(s) of every major character (fighters, summon characters, and enemies/bosses).
  • List of entities that skipped an installment: A list of characters, certain objects, or certain alter-egos that make no appearance in certain Super Smash Bros. installments.
  • Statistics: A list of statistics between several in-game scenarios, such as Event Matches, Spirit battles, Classic Mode routes, and Event Tourneys.

Just For Fun

  • List of unrepresented universes: A list of Nintendo IPs/franchises (or third-party franchises with Nintendo-published installments) that have yet to receive representation in the Super Smash Bros. series (including a Chronicle listing).
  • Third-party universes that should be in Smash: Same idea as the above, but exclusively focused on third-party IPs/franchises. Any universe that follows the guidelines is free to be added by anyone.
  • Chronicle: A series of lists of games published by the major third-party companies represented in Smash that were released on Nintendo hardware, with a few exceptions. Based on the Chronicle feature in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Drafts

  • List of Chronicle universes: A list of universes that are only represented in the Super Smash Bros. series via a listing on the Chronicle in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • List of characters who don't appear in-game: A list of characters who appear in the Super Smash Bros. series, but do not have a gameplay-related role nor appear as a collectible of any kind.
  • List of mentioned characters: A list of characters who don't make any appearance in a certain Smash installment, but have been mentioned at least once in said game.
  • Super Smash Bros. 64 Official Character Poll: A list of the Top 20 most requested characters according to a poll on the official Japanese website for the original Super Smash Bros., as well the extended list that includes the characters who received at least two votes.

amiibo I own

Image amiibo Icon(s) Nickname Inspiration
Link amiibo.png Link
(Super Smash Bros. series)
N/A Trash I don't know where I got it from, but I have this idea in which every Link amiibo I own (that isn't part of the Super Smash Bros. series) would have a nickname that starts with a certain lifestyle or hobby (usually fitting their game of origin in some way) followed by "Trash". Since the Smash-series Link amiibo is the first amiibo of Link, he's pretty much the default of the line-up and has nothing that stands out about him.
Sheik amiibo.png Sheik N/A Fiora Named after Fiora, a character from the Xenoblade Chronicles series. The reasoning behind this name is a jab at Super Smash Bros. for Wii U's tendency to not spoil the plot twist that Sheik from Ocarina of Time is actually Zelda in disguise, despite the fact that the game also includes characters from the first Xenoblade Chronicles that are often considered to be "spoiler territory" as trophies, especially one of Mecha Fiora.
Ganondorf amiibo.png Ganondorf GanondorfHeadRedSSB4-U.png MariahCary Named after Mariah Carey, who is most famous for singing the song "All I Want for Christmas Is You". The reasoning behind this name comes from a parody of the song by Matthew Taranto titled "A Simple Request". The red costume was chosen due to being the color scheme for Santa Claus's iconic outfit.
Mr. Game & Watch amiibo.png Mr. Game & Watch MrGame&WatchHeadWhiteSSB4-U.png Shokora Named after Princess Shokora from Wario Land 4, due to said character having a form resembling Mr. Game & Watch. The white costume was chosen due to being the closest to resembling the color of Shokora's dress in her official artwork and also because I didn't want to use the default costume.
R.O.B. amiibo.png R.O.B. (NES) ROBHeadYellowSSB4-U.png WALL·E Named after the main character of the eponymous film, due to me thinking the two resemble each other. The yellow costume was chosen due to being the closest to resembling WALL-E's color scheme.
Villager amiibo.png Villager N/A N/A No name given.
Duck Hunt amiibo.png Duck Hunt DuckHuntHeadBrownSSB4-U.png Muttley Named after Muttley, a character originating from Wacky Races and the spin-off series Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines, who, much like the dog from Duck Hunt, is a dog famous for his constant snarky laughter. The brown costume was chosen due to being the closest to resembling Muttley's color scheme (at least, I saw Muttley as brown at the time).
Link amiibo (Ocarina of Time).png Link
(Ocarina of Time)
N/A N/A No name given.
Link amiibo Link
(Skyward Sword)
N/A N/A No name given.
N/A Toon Link
(The Wind Waker)
ToonLinkHeadTealSSB4-U.png Philip Named after Dutch company Philips, which is infamous within the video game community for being the distributor of the CD-i, the platform for what are considered to be three of the worst games in The Legend of Zelda series. The teal costume was chosen as it resembles Link's appearance in Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon.
Do note that if I get ahold of the Super Smash Bros.-series Toon Link amiibo, I might transfer the name over to that one and give this one a new name that fits the "Trash" naming theme of my non-Smash Link amiibo.
N/A Zelda
(The Wind Waker)
ZeldaHeadGreenSSB4-U.png Link The name comes from the recurring joke among the Legend of Zelda/video game community that the main protagonist is named "Zelda", so I decided to do the opposite of that joke. No need to explain why the green costume was chosen.
Wolf Link amiibo (The Legend of Zelda series).png Wolf Link N/A LnkFursona The name is supposed to stand for "Link's Fursona", but had to be shortened due to text limitations. The name comes from a joke where a human/human-like character that has an alternate form where they are some kind of animal or animal-like creature has that form labelled as their "fursona".
N/A Link (Rider) LinkHeadPurpleSSB4-U.png BronyTrash To fit with the "Trash" naming theme of my Link amiibo, I decided to give this amiibo the nickname chosen as the amiibo features Link riding a horse, and I thought making him a Brony made sense for him. The purple costume was chosen due to resembling the color scheme of Twilight Sparkle, the central protagonist of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
Inkling Girl amiibo.png Inkling Girl N/A Dosi Named after the scientific genus name for the Humboldt squid, Dosidicus. This squid was chosen as they possess cells called "chromatophores" that allow them to change their body coloration, which represents how Inklings in Splatoon come in a variety of colors. The reason I named the Inkling Girl "Dosi" is because I thought it sounded feminine enough.
Inkling Boy amiibo.png Inkling Boy N/A Dicus See Inkling Girl. The reason I named the Inkling Boy "Dicus" is because I thought it sounded masculine enough.
Inkling Squid amiibo.png Inkling Squid N/A Humbol Much like my other two Inkling amiibo, this amiibo is named after the Humboldt squid. I don't really know why I went with just "Humbol" instead of the fullname "Humboldt", and to be honest, I really should've named it "Gigas" instead as that is the scientific species name for the Humboldt squid, not to mention that name would also fit the naming theme for my other two Inkling amiibo.
File:Callie amiibo.png Callie N/A N/A No name given.
File:Marie amiibo.png Marie N/A N/A No name given.

On other NIWA sites

  • NintendoWiki
  • Nookipedia
  • SmashWiki

The only other NIWA wikis I'm active on are NintendoWiki and Nookipedia, the latter of which is where I am also a Patroller. I technically have accounts on Super Mario Wiki and Bulbapedia as well, but I am so inactive on those sites that I don't feel it's worth linking to them.

A userbox I made, if you're interested

Note: I'd prefer if you'd ask me permission if you want to add it to your collection
