Team:El Chocolate Diablo
El Chocolate Diablo was the name of a Ken and Isai's successful doubles team in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The team was Ken Hoang, a Marth main who was considered to be the best Melee player in the world from 2003 to 2006, and Isai Alvarado, a Captain Falcon main who was once considered the best Falcon player as well as one of the best Melee players in the United States. Ken usually played Marth, while Isai would play either Captain Falcon or Sheik.
Starting with Tournament Go 5 in August 2003, the team won an incredibly large amount of doubles tournaments, including a large variety of MLG events from 2005 to 2006, earning a lot of money in the process as well. The team had a very low amount of losses, suffering their first one in 2006 to the team of Taj and Forward at a Champ Combo tournament in the first set of grand finals, although they still ended up taking the second set. The team also lost to the team of PC Chris and Wes in winners' finals at MLG New York Opener 2006, though they still won both sets of grand finals to win the tournament. Zero Challenge 2 was one of the few majors in which Ken and Isai did not team with each other. Isai partnered with Captain Jack and got 1st, while Ken played with Rob$ and finished 7th.
As time passed however, El Chocolate Diablo's dominance was lost. The team failed to win a tournament for the first time at MLG Chicago 2006, losing to Mew2King and KoreanDJ in winners' semis and Azen and Chillin in grand finals. They also lost to Mango and Lucky as well as SilentSpectre and Tang at Super Champ Combo in 2007. The team became inactive soon after, with both Ken and Isai choosing to retire from competitive Melee in late 2007. Ken became active in Melee again around 2014 and Isai still plays Smash 64.
